New E-M1II tests roundup
Extended second impressions from Andalucia by Mirrorlessons:
The E-M1 II is not slightly more expensive that its predecessor at launch, it is 40% more expensive. The question becomes: is the camera worth such an investment?
I can’t answer this question completely after just one day of testing. For now I think it depends on how you look at it.
From a strict technological point of view, I can’t think of anything that gets close to what this camera has, and I am not just talking about the Micro Four Thirds system. I could easily expand this conversation to other mirrorless and DSLR systems. What you can do today with the stabilisation is impressive, what you might be able to do tomorrow with the High Res Shot even more.

Official: Panasonic is working to solve G80 Image Stabilization the issue with a firmware update
Last week we on 43rumors reported about an issue of the Image Stabilization on the G80 camera. Well now we have good news: On Instagram Panasonic confirmed this:
Less than a week ago, Panasonic became aware of some reports that the G85’s image stabilization wasn’t delivering the same level of smooth performance that the GX85 is while slow panning in video mode. Panasonic is working to solve the issue with a firmware update as soon as we can. Panasonic appreciates all the valuable feedback and always focuses on meeting or exceeding our customers’ expectations.
Thanks Panasonic!

Dissonant view: Sylvain Duford explains why the E-M1II $1,999 pricing might be right
We read many complains about the pricing of the new Olympus E-M1II. So I thought be fair for once to offer an opposite view from Canadian photographer Sylvain Duford:
But as much as I would have liked this camera to be priced lower, is it really overpriced? Just the fact that almost 4 years of inflation have passed since the original E-M1 plus the fact that the Japanese Yen has appreciated about 20% in the last few months, this alone nearly justifies the entire 33% price hike. Add to this the Japanese earthquake that has caused a rise in sensor prices…
And than there are all the new class leading new features:
I say the technology alone and the amazing capabilities that this camera provides justify the price of entry. These things require a lot of R&D and manufacturing and miniaturising this kind of power isn’t trivial either. Is there any other camera that provides this combination of functionality, speed and ruggedness in such a compact package? I don’t know of any at this time. This is market-leading capability.
I still do believe the price is a big hurdle for many who would have loved to buy the camera. But in Olympus defense I will also say this: Expect ALL camera manufacturers to raise their prices on future new cameras by a 20-30% margin. In a shrinking market and strong YEN perspective things are going to cost more.

Strange: Did Sigma design the Olympus 8mm f/1.8 PRO lens?

Egami spotted a new Sigma patented a new 8mm f/1.8 Fisheye lens design. This seems to be the same kind of design of the new Olympus 8mm f/1.8 Fisheye prime lens:
