Two of my favorite bloggers posted their new Panasonic GH5 and G85 tests/insights:

1) Photo Gear News Editor, Richard Sibley, spent a few days in Iceland, with the new Panasonic LUMIX GH5. He created a short vlog using the GH5 and shares some of his thoughts about using the camera for stills and vlogging.

2) Daniel J.Cox from Naturalexposures tested the G85

GH5 at Amazon, BHphoto, Adorama and Panasonic US. In EU at Amazon.de, Cyberport.de and ParkCamera.

Olympus interview at IR: “Sensors are coming close to the physical limit”

Share

There is a new Olympus interview at Imaging Resource. Most of the talk was about the new E-M1II, But Mr.Haruo Ogawa gave us a couple of “extra” interesting info:

  1. He expects that in five years the new Olympus cameras will be four times more powerful than the E-M1II (you need this for 8K for example)
  2. When asked if  sensors can improve in terms of noise and sensitivity or if we are very close to physical limits he answers: “I think that now [regarding] the noise level, we are coming close to the physical limit.”

So it looks current sensor technology doesn’t allow major leaps forward. But I am pretty sure new things will happen in the future. Something like three layer sensors, graphene sensors and so on could still give us major improvements.
