Pentax doesn’t want to compete against m43 :)

We just published a few details on MirrorlessRumors.com about the ucoming Pentax mirrorless system. The huge suprise is that it will use a 5.6 crop sensor taht is even smaller than the one used inside the new Olympus XZ-1. So Pentax is not going to compete against the m43 system. I guess it would have been better for Pentax to join the m43 coalition!

An FT5 rumor about Pentax coming soon at Mirrorlessrumors.com

As you know a few months ago I started Mirrorlessrumors.com. I needed a place where I can “park” the rumors I do receive about our competition. I didn’t write a lot on that website but now that Nikon and Pentax are coming with their systems it will become very interesting to follow the website.

To celebrate our first Pentax rumor we created a countdown like we did in the old days of when we started 43rumors ;) In a few hours we will post a few (but surprising) info about the upcoming Pentax mirrorless cameras. Take a look here: http://www.mirrorlessrumors.com/hot-pentax-mirrorlessrumors-countdown/.

P.S.: Pentax will not join Micro Four Thirds (at leats not for now).

(FT4) Panasonic will redesign a few of the current lenses. 7-14mm OIS confirmed.

I have an update about Panasonic lenses: A few weeks ago we received the rumor that Panasonic was going to update some of the current lenses. A second and a third source now confirmed that the rumor is correct. There will be a new 7-14mm OIS lens which should be announced the second half of the year. We don’t know yet what the other lenses are but we suspect the [shoplink 14794]45mm macro[/shoplink] could also get trough some kind of redesign. The sources also confirmed that the m43 version of the current [shoplink 14959]25mm f/1.4 Four Thirds[/shoplink] lens is coming in April (that’s FT5).

(FT5) No new m43 camera or lens at the CP+ show! (+TG-810 leak)

Bad news folks! There will be no new m43 camera or lens from Olympus for the CP+ show which starts on February 9th in Yokohama. Like Panasonic, Olympus choose to introduce the next wave of new m43 products time after the CP+ show!
UPDATE: There will be two compact cameras from Olympus. One os the TG810. It is the successor of the mju 8010 with GPS and 10m waterproof with 5 times optical zoom. The second camera is a ultrazoom camera with 26x times optical zoom beginning at 24mm with backlighted CMOS Sensor.
We found a reference of that camera inside the Henry store (via google cache). Talking with my trusted sources it looks like Panasonic and Olympus are waiting to see what’s coming next from Pentax and Nikon (in March/April).

Meanwhile notice that the E-P2 price is slowly dropping closer to the E-PL2 price suggesting that the E-P2 will be the next camera to be replaced! Amazon (Click here) and Adorama (Click here) are selling the E-P2 for less than $650. And the new E-PL2 sells for $600 at Amazon US, Adorama and BHphoto.

The M-mount module from Ricoh (no m43 module)

I received the rumor two weeks ago and I didn’t post it because I wanted to check the rumor. But there is no need anymore for that because today Ricoh officially announced the development of a Leica M-mount unit for its [shoplink 16935]GXR camera[/shoplink] system. So that was the mysterious “Expansion Unit” displayed on the roadmap and the Micro Four Thirds module we saw many times ghosting around the web was simply fake (but we already suspected that!).

P.S.: I think I should post more of this FT2-FT3 rumors I do receive. Because sometimes they turn out to be correct and if I wait to much time someone else will post them before me :(

(FT4) No new Panasonic Gr (or lenses) at the CP+ show?

I had the “feeling” that Panasonic would not announce the G3 or the new lenses at the CP+ show and now one trusted source confirmed it. He told me Panasonic will not announce the Panasonic G3 at the CP+ show which will take place in Yokohama on February 9th. The G3 announcement will be held the month after (March). This is a bit surprising as the CP+ show is the biggest asian show of the year. The source believes that also the lenses (25mm 1.4 and 12-50mm) will be announced along the G3 in March.

So let’s hope the rumor about a possible Olympus press release on February the 8th turns out to be true. Because we don’t want a boring CP+ show! You can read more about the possible product announcements at Mirrorlessrumors.com.
