(FT5) Panasonic will launch a new GM2 with built-in EVF!

Image on top shows the current GM1.

I am 99% sure the next new Panasonic Micro Four Thirds camera will be a new GM2 with built-in EVF. It will be the world’s most compact system camera with built-in evf. And I am yet not 100% sure about that but one anonymous source said it has 4K video recording too!

It will likely cost more than the current GM1 which sells for $748 with lens at Amazon or with $100 discount as [shoplink 47449 ebay]Open Box at Samys[/shoplink].

This will be the only new MFT camera coming from Panasonic. There will be also a Four Thirds sensor fixed lens camera (specs yet not known).

(FT5) New Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO zoom will cost $1500 AUSD.

An australian friend sent me the pricing info for the soon to be announced 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO zoom. It will cost $1,500 AUSD. The lens will ship in very early 2015. In US the lens is “rumored” to cost around $1200-1300.

Official Olympus M.Zuiko 40-150mm f2.8 PRO description (via http://www.getolympus.com/us/en/em1_brochure)

Incorporating the same powerful optical and digital technologies developed for the top-of-the-line Zuiko Digital lenses, M.Zuiko PRO series lenses are designed to bring the highest level of professional imaging performance to our line of compact Micro Four Thirds system cameras. The second model in this series is a telephoto zoom lens with 35mm camera-equivalent zoom range from 80mm to 300mm. Built tough to stand up to the harsh demands of professional use, this high-grade lens boasts optical performance with f2.8 brightness throughout the zoom range and a durable dust-/splash-proof structure. Together with the 12-40mm f2.8 PRO standard zoom lens, this new lens enables the PRO series to cover the widest possible range of photographic requirements.

(FT3) Olympus is working on a new E-M5 successor!

[shoplink 29074 ebay]

[/shoplink] Two different new sources told me that Olympus is definitely working on a new [shoplink 29074 ebay]E-M5 successor[/shoplink]. But none of them was sure if such a camera would come at photokina or (most likely) in early 2015. Both sources had no specs to share but guaranteed the info comes via their highly trustworthy Olympus contacts. I think the chance is pretty high the E-M5 successor will come in early 2015 and NOT(!) at Photokina.

It reminds a bit of mystery for me if it makes sense to release such a camera. Olympus seems to follow the PEN route by releasing many slightly different versions of the same model. So what is the new E-M5 successor going to be? It cannot be better than the [shoplink 41667 ebay]E-M1[/shoplink] (otherwise it would kill the E-M1 sales). It cannot be just a minimal E-M5 upgrade (we already have an [shoplink 47360 ebay]E-M10[/shoplink] for that). What should it be? In my opinion two OMD models are just enough. But I am a nobody, and maybe Olympus knows it better…
