I got some small info about the next three Olympus PRO lenses:

1) 7-14mm PRO lens will ship between late June and early July. It will cost 1399 Euro
2) Olympus got little “interest” from dealers about the 8mm PRO fisheye lens.
3) 300mm f/4.0. Apparently Olympus told to dealers the lens release got delayed. No specific timeframe of the release were given.

Small update about the new G7. A source told me it will be announced around Mid-May. And he confirmed that we should not expect to see any “revolutionary” new feature or sensor.

The 7-14mm PRO lens from Olympus will ship in June according to BHphoto (Click here). This means we can expect it to be announced officially by Olympus sometimes in May. There is yet no availability info for the other new PRO lensese, the 300mm f/4.0 (here on BH) and the 8mm Fisheye PRO lens.

First impressions by tester Pen And Tell:
– Compared to the Four Thirds version lens the new MFT version is again much smaller and lighter.
– Autofocus is very fast and silent
– Focus wheel runs very smooth
– Close focus is impressive. I’ts 2cm from the end of the lens.
– Bokeh is very good
– No flare issues

A reliable source told me something our reader will not like very much:

You’ve been hearing that you can get an extra stop or 2 of dynamic range with the new V Log L color profile on the GH4. That may be true. However, my source says that they are holding back. The broadcast division of Panasonic is forcing them to dial it back. Apparently you would get 2 more stops of dynamic range out of the V Log if it weren’t a V Log L (lite). But the broadcast division is forcing the LUMIX divisions hand to tone down the V Log to a Lite version.
Also this source tells me that they will be charging $100 for the firmware update.

The source itself is not from Panasonic. Therefore I really hope that we he heard will NOT become true. Firmware updates should always come for free. And please Panasonic, never cripple down the potential of the GH4!

Thanks to my trusted sources I can confirm with a 99,999% reliability that Panasonic will soon announce a new G6 successor! The camera should not pack any “revolutionary” new feature but rather become a robust updated camera. For example do not expect to get a new kind of sensor on that cam. The GX7 successor will follow as next and be announced sometimes around September.

Just got word that Panasonic plans to announce a new MFT camera soon. Just give me a couple of days to check what camera it is. As far as I heard the GX8 release is planned for late August/September. So this should not be the GX8 coming in May…
