Olympus_300mm

This is the first image of the almost final version of the upcoming new Olympus 300mm f/4.0 IS PRO Zuiko lens. As you can see Olympus added in lens stabilization as there is a new IS on/off switch. In short here are some features sent to me by an anonymous source:

1) The same retractable lens hood design as 40-150mm
2) minimum focus distance: 1.4m
3) IS on/off switch
4) focus limiter switch

Thanks to the anonymous source who sent me this!

Highly trusted sources told me that the next Olympus MFT camera announcement will come in early Spring. And Olympus will announce a new kind of PEN camera with some major innovations and design changes.

I hope to get info about the details of that small PEN revolution the coming weeks!

Digicameinfo confirms Olympus added in lens stabilization on the 300mm ZUIKO.

Back in June (article here) I told you that Olympus delayed the 300mm PRO f/4.0 Zuiko lens launch to add in lens image stabilization. And today Digicameinfo confirmed the lens has in body stabilization.

My source also explained why Olympus decided so:

Olympus considers to make the new 300mm f/4 PRO lens with OIS, to complement IBIS in Olympus bodies (which is less effective at really long focal lengths) and also be attractive for Panasonic users.
I know, it is the first for Olympus, but then it is going to be very specialized, and they have decided than without Panasonic user market it would not have enough sales to pay to its development, and that was the cause of its delay.
Lens construction is 17 elements in 10 groups, 2 SuperED elements, internal focusing.

Other sources told me the lens will ship in early Spring 2016.

Reminder: The 300mm PRO lens is listed here:
Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 300mm f/4 PRO Lens (here at BHphoto).

First image of the Full Frame Leica mirrorless made with Panasonic tech.

Leica SL et objectifs

MirrorlessRumors just posted the very first images of the Leica Sl T-mount Full Frame system camera. The news matters for us too because Leica worked a lot with Panasonic to create the camera. I can’t wait to hear what exactly has been done by Panasonic (probably processor, video tech, autofocus tech and maybe even sensor).

And if Panasonic ever decides to go Full Frame Mirrorless they may join the Leica system!

If you want to read all specs and see more images jump over at MirrorlessRumors.

(FT4) Olympus E-M1II prototype uses current Sony 20MP MFT sensor.

I got an important information about the Olympus E-M1II. I have been told that Olympus actually plans to release the camera at Photokina 2016. But if the competition will introduce major competitor cameras by early 2016 already than Olympus is ready to launch the E-M1II by early 2016 too. And in that case if will feature the new Sony 20Megapixel MFT sensor and have handheld high-resolution shooting mode.

The competitor cameras could be the GH5, A7000 and Fuji X-PRO2. If those will be announced in 4-5 months than Olympus will step into the battle too.

The paradigm shift from Panasonic…

Bildschirmfoto 2015-10-10 um 10.40.11
Panasonic will launch 8K in 2017-2018 (Lesnumeriques).

Bruno Labarbère tweeted about a recent Panasonic meeting. And what he writes is quite “Mysterious”:

I had a great chat with Panasonic about their cameras for 2017/2018 : you can expect a big paradigm shift ;)
It’s gonna be less about tech than philosophy. For me, handling and ergonomy are the key factors to success.

I am curious to see what that “paradigm shift” will be all about! Do you have any idea?
