Trusted sources told us Panasonic will announce a new G8x entry level camera on September 19 (UPDATE: Launch got delayed due the sensor delivery issues).  I hope to get some specs soon but this should become the new entry level G camera. Stay tuned on 43rumors as new Olympus and Panasonic rumors are being posted soon!

UPDATE: After a talk with other sources I corrected and upgraded the rumor. The new camera will be a G8x model (“x” stands for a number that will be different in different regions).

This one runs today only: The Olympus E-M1 is on sale for $799 at BHphoto, Amazon, Adorama and GetOlympus.

In late August Panasonic will announce a new MFT camera but this won’t be for the new GH5. There will be a new entry level MFT camera instead.

I still have no bulletproof info when the GH5 will be announced. But a new source just sent me this:

I’m told (after asking over and over and over) that they’ll be introducing the GH5 at IBC.

The IBC show in Amsterdam starts on September 9. But I am really not sure yet the GH5 is coming at the IBC show…

I hope the surprising rumor I received recently is true. It says the new Olympus E-M1II that is expected to be announced on September 19 could have a new Olympus designed and Sony produced sensor!

One source added the following info:

“The sensor is trimmed for maximal AF speed and very fast parallel signal output reading. The sensor reading is twice as fast than ont he current [shoplink 59394 ebay]Olympus PEN-F[/shoplink].”

This would be a hell of a news! Finally a real new(!) MFT sensor!

All other current confirmed E-M1II specs:

4K video (first Olympus camera with 4K)
Dual SD card slot
Handheld High Resolution mode
Much improved autofocus performance
new high-resolution EVF
Announcement at Photokina in September
It has no global shutter. But Olympus worked hard to reduce rolling shutter to a negligible level

A trusted source confirmed that Panasonic will announce two new camera by end of August.

One is the already mentioned new entry level MFT camera. I have no info yet about the second camera but my guess is that the second camera is the LX100 successor I wrote about in early July (article here). The rumored specs of that camera are:

1. It will have the same sensor of the GX80 GX85.
2. But it will not have the same processor as the future GH5.
3. Rear screen will be like the GX80: Articulated and tactile.

Still no news about the possible GH5 announcement date…

Egami spotted a new Sigma patent for APS-C and MFT mirrorless systems. It’s a compact 14mm f/4.0 lens. Well, that would be surely a nice lens to have!

A source told me the E-M1 Mark II will be announced on the 19th of September. I am awaiting confirmations from my trusted long time sources to eventually make this rumors “FT5” :)
