The amount that Panasonic asks for the upgrade is low when you see what you get back in image quality. V-Log L is a life-saver in those situations where, due to high contrast, you would be heavily underexposed if you did not have V-Log L.

The market for higher-end cameras is growing, so it’s nice to see Panasonic respond with a high-spec Lumix camera that offers many worthy upgrades over the earlier GX7. I particularly liked the large and detailed OLED viewfinder and fully-articulated OLED touch-screen on the GX8, along with its weather-proofed body. The presence of 4k video and 4k photo capture may now be normal for Panasonic, but remains a valuable and unique capability. The two models I think you should be weighing-up against the GX8 are the Olympus OMD EM5 II and Fujifilm XT1. All three are great cameras but one doesn’t stand out beyond the others overall. As detailed above, there are certain aspects where each takes a lead and the trick of course is to match that with your picture (or video) taking requirements. In the meantime, the GX8 is an easy camera to recommend, especially if you take video as seriously as stills.
As you know there is no battery grip yet for the new Panasonic GX8. But if you watch the video from Wylun (see below) than you will learn that you can actually use the [shoplink 55780 ebay]Meike A7II grip (here on eBay)[/shoplink] on the GX8. Not easy to modify it…but it works! :)

TheNextWeb reviewed the Olympus AIR A01 Micro Four Thirds camera.
When Olympus launched the A01, the first question on my mind was “who would actually want this? The more I used it though, the more it made sense; the A01 strikes a balance of convenience and image quality that neither my phone nor camera have. It won’t be the ideal camera for everyone, but the possible uses are plenty. Whether you just want something better than your phone’s camera, are looking a small travel cam or already own compatible lenses, the Air A01 is a fun little contender.
So, as happens so often, I think something will work in one way and it ends up working well in another. And finally I would suggest that if the Air is of interest to you, it may well help to think of it as a serious camera, rather than some kind of smartphone accessory. Certainly that’s the mistake I made and I’m happy to say that my preconceptions have been proved to be misguided. Happy because I’m getting a lot more than I thought I was. And the Panasonic GX8 has, somewhat surprisingly, just got some serious competition for the Soundimageplus camera of the year. And who would have thought that?
The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II is an excellent mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, noticeably improving over the E-M10 (Mark I), as well as offering a great entry into the OM-D range. The E-M10 Mark II would also make a very good upgrade path for people with the original Olympus OM-D E-M5, with a larger EVF, built in Wi-Fi, and additional shooting features, albeit without the weather-sealing, and for that you would need to upgrade to the more expensive E-M5 Mark II.
The OM-D EM10 Mark 2 is an example of Olympus brining “evolution and revolution” to the table yet again. Having had a good amount of hands on time with the new camera, I think it is safe to say that I am rather smitten and that I will be keeping it with me as my “walk around” camera for the foreseeable future. If you are looking for a small camera to travel with that doesn’t compromise on image quality and has a few creative tricks up it’s sleeve the EM10 Mark 2 is definitely worth checking out.
