The Panasonic 25mm f/1.7 gets DxOmarked:

25mmPanas

The Panasonic 25mm f/1.7 lensis not only cheap ($99 at  Amazon, Adorama, BHphoto) it’s also an “attractive option” according to latest DxOmark test:

Although it performs quite, well it doesn’t really stand out. And there are some concessions, most notably in sharpness. While experienced photographers know sharpness isn’t everything in a lens, it feels like a somewhat retrograde step. Nevertheless, as a model intended to entice users to upgrade from a kit zoom, it is an attractive option.

Kern Paillard lens tested on the Panasonic GH4

Annie tested the [shoplink 56144 ebay]Kern Paillard lens[/shoplink] on the GH4:

Another tiny Cinema lens of 26mm taken at wide open f1.9. We like to use a wrist strap when the camera is mounted on a tripod, at least for this camera setup.

Panasonics new Post Focus feature tested by Dpreview

Panasonic Post Focus Demonstration – Capture and focus adjustment

If you happen tow own the GX8,G7 or FZ300 camera than the new firmware update will allow you to use the new Post Focus feature. Dpreview tested it and writes:

This is a pretty impressive piece of technology, and it certainly does exactly what Panasonic says it will. But in reality, Panasonic is one of the least in need of a don’t-miss-the-subject focus bracketing feature, as it already offers a highly accurate autofocus system with very capable AF tracking.
It is true that many of us are keen to have pictures with more than 8MP in them, but on holiday and snapshot occasions eight is often more than we really need. For occasions that require larger images we’ll just have to wait for the arrival of 8K Raw video in this camera line. I’m not sure that the Post Focus feature will be something people buy Lumix cameras especially to get, but alongside the 4K Photo 30fps stills mode, it is another clever side benefit of having high resolution video.

Panasonic Post Focus Demonstration – Focus selection with peaking:

The Leica SL with Panasonic V-LOG has some serious issues…

As you know the new Leica SL Full Frame mirrorless system camera has been made with lot of Panasonic tech inside. It even uses Panasonic’s own V-LOG profile. But it seems Leica didn’t implement it well. Newsshooter reports:

Log curves are supposed to be flat, but it seems the Leica version was so flat that it makes grading difficult, perhaps impossible.

And EosHD writes:

I first noticed it with the lens cap on that the blacks in LOG mode seem to start around 100 on the 0-255 luma range. This makes the footage essentially un-gradable, severely limits dynamic range and is an obvious flaw. Who does Leica have testing the video features!?

So this doesn’t seem to work as smooth as a “Full Frame GH4” yet :(

E-M10II sensor gets tested at DxO: “Solid performer”

dxoem10II

DxOmark (Click here) tested the E-M10II sensor and there is not surprise at all. The sensor is the same as the one used on the E-M1 and E-M5II:

With the addition of the vaunted 5-axis stabilization (albeit a modified version), an improved high-res viewfinder and some worthwhile tweaks to the handling, including the useful AF targeting pad, the E-M10 II no longer feels like a entry-level model. Combined with an accessible price and a sensor performance that’s similar to the mid-range E-M5 II which in turn is close to the very best 4/3 format sensors there’s little doubt the E-M10 II is an attractive option and solid choice.
