readers work roundup…

Here is a short list of mails I received from our 43rumors readers:

Bob:I’ve started a fan page for the Olympus PEN E-P5. Feel free to post photos, videos or experience stories & reviews.https://www.facebook.com/EP5Fans

Eric: “I saw that you were interested by stories or real life tests so here’s a link to a wedding I made exclusively with micro 4/3 cameras: http://blog.ericcote.net/2013/07/mariage-avec-lolympus-om-d/ This post might be interesting too since I tell my first 4 months with the OM-D from a personal and professional standpoint with examples from portrait to food photography and commercial gigs: http://blog.ericcote.net/2013/01/quatre-mois-avec-lolympus-om-d/ Hope it can be useful to some people. The posts are in french but there is a translate option on the left side (although not perfect).

JJ:Here’s a friendly face off between the Nikon v1 and the Oly E-PL5: http://jjsemplephotography.blogspot.com/2013/07/e-pl5-vs-nikon-v1.html

P13:Our Big Gig was a national event sponsored by the Arts Council for England this weekend, I filmed the Bradford music gig with a cameraman on the 2nd GH3, the event was the showcase event for Yorkshire & Humberside and was 8 hours in total, it was a mix of street style rap, to various rock music styles and ending with drum and bass. The video was edited and released the following day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Wiw_jJbjoJg

Ralph:hier gibt es wohl ein Angebot eines kostenlosen Workshops bei Kauf einer OMD. http://www.kamera-express.nl

Ludwig:I saw that you have a rumor about a mirror lens. I own the Opteka 500 mm mirror lens. I use it with my AF100. When you manage to nail focus, you can get decent sharp pictures. Here one example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga7GoZP9An4 The last scenes of the video were shot with the Lumix X 35-100 mm lens.

Roy:I would like to share with the m4/3rumors community a video me and a couple of mates made in a hurry for the Tomorrowland Goldenticket contest. We didn’t win, but lot’s of fun shooting it in a day and montage the day after. Entirely shot on my GH2 with Canon 50mm 1.4, Nikon 25mm 2.8 and 14-140 kitlens: https://vimeo.com/70947897

Nick:I just wanted to let everyone know that I’ve set up my Zenfolio web page where people can see my artwork and photography.  http://concordenickartphoto.zenfolio.com I’ve been an Olympus owner going back to the OM-10 days and progressing upwards to my current E-5.”

First Blackmagic Cinema Pocket Cameras will not have RAW.

Auckland In My Pocket – Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera from A Couple Of Night Owls on Vimeo.

43rumors reader Jeff just sent us that message:

Over in the dvinfo.net blackmagic forum, I had the chance to ask John Brawley if he was allowed to comment on RAW yet he responded by saying the camera will likely ship without raw and it will be added at a later date. He’s maintained he hasn’t been allowed to release any footage or info without BMD’s permission. They must have authorized him to make that statement. First time I’ve seen him comment on raw.

Pity we have to wait for the fw update to get RAW recording. Anyway, we will patiently wait for the new firmware as we will had to do for the camera. BHphoto (Click here) changed the status for the Blackmagic camera. It now says “Available for pre-order” and no more “shipping on July 25”. Hope this doesn’t mean it’s delayed. But the camera is worth the long wait. Juts watch that new video sample on top…amazing quality!

Oliver: here is a post of mine for your 43rumor blog’s “reader’s stuff” section. Maybe you are interested in posting the link. Its not about any fancy m43 gear or a dusty, yet beautiful old legacy lens. All pictures, however, were shot with a G1 – showing how one can snap beautiful pictures with even the oldest of the m43 cams. http://500px.com/olli_muc/stories/85759/crossing-the-alps

Jacob:I have come across a site that has some great underwater photos taken with the Olympus OMD – http://footlessfish.com there is also a good link to some street pics with the Olympus 17mm lens on the same site at here.

Andreas:My name is Andreas Fougner Ezelius and I have been following 43rumors for a while. I have started a picture blog in my native language swedish. I have shot four thirds and now micro four thirds. Lots of nature photos with long legacy glass. Feel free to share the blog if you like! Great job on everything else! :) http://www.m43foto.se/

Juan:Hi, I would like to share with you and m4/3 comunity my 2nd part of the m.ZD 17mm f/1.8 review. It’s all about distortion, sharpness, CA, vigneting… and DxO Optcis 8 Pro vs Olympus Viewer 3 images from ORF
No, graphics, no science, no measures, just two images to compare them http://juansinponte.blogspot.com.es/2013/07/olympus-mzd-17mm-f18-ii.html. It’s amazing how different are the pictures taken fron each developer software.
I woul like you ask to the people, what they prefer: HQ optics and pricely withput CA, distortions… or just a lens like the 17mm f1.8 cheap but with software corrections.?
Kholi:You featured another video of ours from the Blackmagic CInema camera and SLR Magic prime combination a few months back. We have another video up we’re sharing of Comic Con San Diego: https://vimeo.com/70746459. Again with the SLR Magic 12 and 25.

Manuel:As part of your call for readers submissions, I would like to share with you my short documentary “Crowded Healing” on health and overpopulation issues in Manila, which was shot exclusively with micro 4/3 equipment. Cameras used where the Panasonic GH2 and Olympus OM-D, mostly with the Voigtlander 17.5 f/0.95 lens. Watch it here: https://vimeo.com/65404491

Nico:I have a blog at http://bee-colours.blogspot.com where I show UV-photos of flowers and other subjects taken with a broadband-modified Panasonic Lumix G1 and the required filters. I also do composite images to create “simulated bee-colours” meaning how bees, that see a different spectrum of the light (including UV but missing deep red), do likely see a flower. Recently, I’ve also started to capture UV-induced fluorescence, with a Lumix GH2 (not modified) and special UV-blocking filters. Gear and methodology are described in more detail in my blog that I will keep updating with new posts. It’s certainly a very special topic, but some might find it interesting, maybe even as fascinating as I do.

Andrew:Hi Ale, Your readers might be interested in my 10 part review of the Lumix GH3 on my Camera Ergonomics blog. The first part starts here: http://cameraergonomics.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/lumix-gh3-review-part-1-introduction.html Hope you like it.

Zoom Madness: Panasonic announces the 60x zoom FZ70 (20-1200mm!!!)

Sorry if it’s not an MFT news, but I think it’s a very curious thing Panasonic announced today:

In the world of digital cameras you can fin the Megapixel race, the ISO race, the Miniaturization race and we also have the Superzoom race. Today Panasonic announced the 60x (!) zoom FZ70 camera (here at Amazon). Guys…that’s a 20-1200mm lens! Someone here on 43rumors that is going to buy this?

All preorder links at Amazon and Adorama.
