Before to start the new week with new rumors I have to catch up with two reviews and one news:
1) SEB Farges compared the new SLRmagic 25mm f/0.95 lens against the Nokton 25mm f/0.95. He writes about the SLRmagic: “The result is astonishing to my opinion, very sharp image at full aperture.“. 2) Admiringlight tested the Panasonic GH3: “The GH3 is one of the most responsive cameras I’ve had the pleasure to use, and image quality is very good. Panasonic has definitely stepped up their game for this camera, creating a true pro-grade camera and one of the best mirrorless cameras on the market.”

Admin, do you know if they are gonna pre-sell this on Adorama like they did for the 35mm T/1.4, or is it only an ebay thing? I’m sure many of your readers will want to take advantage of the early $649 price.

3 months ago |Very tempting. I can’t decide if I’m chasing a low light bokehlicious dream at the expense of size, weight, cost and functionality. I’ve no interest in video. Maybe I should just get the Panny 25mm 1.4. The low light AF speed of my 20mm 1.7 frustrates me.

3 months ago |ive got the voigt 17.5 and the leica 25mm, and, speaking from personal experience, ive had better results, more fun and enjoyed the challenge with thevoigt head and shoulders over the leica..

3 months ago |It’s the feeling of using a high quality manual prime. I love PannyLeica(Sigma?) when I feel lazy, but Voigty is more often attached to my camera.

3 months ago |I have both lenses to, the 17.5mm f0.95 Voight and the 25mm f1.4mm Panny/Leica. Both are superb, but the 17.5 is my favorite.

3 months ago |Doing lens tests whilst roughly focusing during recording, shaking on a moving escalator and not even using a tripod? Yeah, sorry, I can’t really tell much from that, and I feel sorry for those who think they can.

3 months ago |Yes, it’s in no way a scientific test about sharpness or anything like that. But it does show a quite different color signature, the SLR Magic being much more pleasant to my eyes, especially the warmer skin tones (but in my wide gamut monitor, flash video is not color managed, so it might be a wrong impression).

3 months ago |That is true, it does seem a tad warmer when it comes to color temperature, but in the end you’d want a neutral color temperature from your lens, warmth can always be added in post, but is harder to remove.
Looking forward to someone who can do some proper tests.

3 months ago |It’s most certainly not. If you’d have ever done color correction for a film you’d be well aware of that. You can add color hues, but removing color hues always has side effects.

3 months ago |They haven’t replaced their AF100/AF105, so maybe that’s the one. I’d hate to think that they would be replacing the GH3 since they’re having trouble supplying them and I just got mine a few days ago.

3 months ago |I like the SLR, but Im not convinced is its flare when receives the front light.
An example with the 35mm, although it’s a different focal distance, the flare occurs with the 25mm.

3 months ago |Pretty much every lens will do that. The simple solution is to use a lens hood, or your hand to shade the front of the lens.

3 months ago |Quantum flash now supporting m4/3? Funny how no-one seems to notice this one. If true, this is big news, at least for me, I already own a T2 qflash with E-1 era (D-10w) QTTL adapter, but the unit shown in the video with integrated TTL transmitter and 3 way independent flash compensation looks awesome!
Admin, Quantum makes (actual) professional grade wireless flashes and batteries. If Quantum is supporting m4/3, it is very useful, as they are in wide use by wedding and other profession location photography. I suggest this deserves a seperate headline.

3 months ago |Quantum is 100% supporting the Lumix system. They also have two types of ring flash called the Omicron. If you’ll be at the WPPI show next week I’ll be in the Panasonic booth shooting live with the GH3 & Omicron to a 103″ HDTV.

3 months ago |Love my Leica 25/1.4 one of the sharpest lenses I own. Works good for video too but it is not stabilized but it does work well.
