June 2, 2009 |Frosti7 wishes that the zoom 14-42 mm is redesigned to make it smaller. Possibly a 20-35 mm lens? I would like it. — Chris wishes instead of the 2,8/17 mm a (small) faster lens: Okay, Panasonic announced a 1,7/20 mm (which of course must be compatible). — If external optical viewfinders are offered, they should not be too bulky, but for instance collapsible.

June 2, 2009 |2.8 is a little slow, but I’m having trouble thinking of other 17mm (or similar) lenses of any mount that are faster. Zeiss has a 15/2.8 but it’s like $3500. Leica has the 21/1.4 summilux which is 5kish. So maybe a 17/2.8 is the best price/performance they can do, which leaves a lot of room for say CV to do a faster wide angle lens.

June 2, 2009 |Yes, I understand there’s no faster 17. But let’s talk about focal length equivalents, because that’s what matters to the photographer. A 17 on M4/3 is a 34mm EFL. Canon has a 35/1.4 (very expensive), but also a 35/2 (very affordable). The idea, as far as I understood it, was that M4/3 offered the potential for smaller and equally fast lenses to APS-C. That does not appear to be happening.

June 2, 2009 |Most SLR systems have a cheap fast prime lens. usually a 50mm f1.8 for $90. yes it’s made of all plastic, but it takes great pictures. I hope Oly announces a comparable lens.
My big complaint is the camera price. You can easily get a sensor that is much bigger for a lot cheaper. I believe their reasoning is based on the Video feature… not build quality. E-P1 with 720p for $1000. GH1 with 1080p is $1500!!! I think they are wrong, but this is where they are getting the idea.

June 9, 2009 |guys? please look at the image of the e-p1 top plate. there is a plastic bag covering the lcd screen, right? what i want to say that the plastic bag must hook up to something to hold on. and the only thing i could think of is if the screen detaches from the body – swivel screen that gets into the bag like a hand fits in a glove. what do you think? could it be it? i really hope so….

June 10, 2009 |I do not believe the LCD will swivel. No chance…

June 9, 2009 |For “expert” this camera must be black, and must have a digital or optical usable VIEWFINDER
I hope it will be the case …

June 9, 2009 |Traciatim, well if it was a film to peel it of, as you say, we wouldnt see it on the image would we? i mean that the film you say it is would be too tightly sticked to the screen right? however in the image if you look closely its obvious that there is space between the plastic and the lcd – an air pocket if you like. dont you think so? look at the image again, and tell me what you think?
