(FT4) UPDATED -> The future MicroFourThirds lens list! Is Olympus going to produce a new 20mm f/1.7 lens?

Olympus_mft_lenses
Forum Olympus France just compiled a nice MicroFourThirds lens list and they also have a list of future (and some unexpected) lenses! The adminstrator of the forum says he received the future lens list from Olympus!

The important news is
1) The 9-18mm lens will be in Stock by april 2010
2) The 14-150mm lens in Stock may-june 2010
3) And that’s not a joke…Olympus Forum France adminstrator says that Olympus plans the release of the new 20mm f/1.7 lens by end 2010 early 2011! Can’t believe Olympus will copy the lens!

UPDATE:
The very friendly administrator of the Olympus France Forum contacted me and told me “The roadmap stated on the forum-olympus-france is the roadmap announced with the E-P2 by Olympus France. There is no information on the forum-olympus-france whether or not this Micro Zuiko Digital 20/1.7 is the same as the Panasonic : such information is not available yet.

The rumors summary

Good morning!
Today I have lot of work to do in Rome. I will take some pictures with my E-P1 and if I find some time I will post some photos o 43rumors. In the meanwhile read our rumors summary. All the rumors are coming from trusted sources only!

Panasonic
Panasonic next lenses are expected to be unveiled early 2010. And Panasonic will release more lenses than the three they have announced for the year 2010. Panasonic could announce a new MicroFourThirds camera in february. New sensor generation will be implemented in future cameras.

Olympus
Olympus 9-18mm and 14-150mm sale start planned for the first half 2010.  Olympus will produce two types of camera models – one for easy users and the other for serious users. Next year will prove to be just as exciting for Olympus and followers as this year has been – plenty to be cheery about. New generation of hardware coming starting with processor, colour array technology, sensor etc.

Fuji
Fuji will probably unveil their MicroFourThirds camera by early 2010. Will they use the new organic sensor? Not yet we believe.

Samsung
The Samsung NX mirrorless camera is going to be announced on December 10.

Sony

Sony GH1 competitor will only be unveiled in September 2010 (Photokina)

Samyang
Samyang will not produce FourThirds lenses.

With the exception of the Samsung NX announcement I do not expect new cameras or lenses to be unveiled before february. The good news is that I always have rumors coming in!

Have a nice day!

Ale

(FT4) Sony mirrorless camera update…and harakiri thoughts.

sony_gh1
A funny fake Sony GH1 ;) source: blog.livedoor.jp

We now received confirmation from two sources that the Sony mirrorless camera (the Panasonic GH1 competitor) is real! The mistake we made was to think that the camera is going to be announced on November 18 (I confess, it is a big mistake). We checked our sources and now we know that Sony has a prototype of such a camera but they are going to announce it only on Photokina (September 2010).
I am really surprised to see how the big ones (Canon, Nikon, Sony) are taking so much time before starting to compete against MicroFourThirds.
I am also surprised about some Panasonic and Olympus harakiri strategical moves. Olympus has no decent MicroFourThirds prime lens and Panasonic is loosing their time advantage by not delivering enough GF1 to the US market.
Anyway it seems they have time enough to do it right!

a little bit of everything…
