And here we are, finally the E-M5 with 12-50mm lens is in Stock and shiping by Amazon itself (Click here). It took a veyr long time (four months) until we got it. Olympus may be influenced by the Panaosnic delay syndrome :)

The Silver kits will be available next week too while it you will have to wait one month to see the body only. Meantime the Panasonic main kit price is now $1,149 at Amazon. The GH3 is coming closer…

Tempting… but I would have to pay state sales tax if I buy through Amazon. :/ So I s’pose I’ll keep waiting for B&H. Anyone have any idea when they’ll have them in stock?

Which States require sales tax from Amazon? I did not have to pay it for the E-M5 and 12-50mm from Amazon to ship to California.

Texas, it is a fairly recent change. And now that I check, it doesn’t actually go into effect until July. So I could order from Amazon, if I wanted the 12-50 kit lens. Which I don’t. :P

Amazon will not be taxing California until September 2012, so that’s why you did not have to pay taxes yet. After that date, all Amazon purchases to California will be taxed.

New Yorkers also have to pay tax on Amazon purchases. Amazon and the state of NY have been fighting this out in the courts for some time.

Amazon has a warehouse in Kansas so the citizens of Kansas pay taxes. I would assume that is likely the case with other states holding warehouses. I would also guess that Amazon picked lower populated states to limit the tax issue to as few customers as possible.
