DC.watch reported about the Olympus Japan press event. A couple of notes:
– The E-M1X is not the E-M1II successor. The E-M1 line will continue independently from the E-M1X line.
– Also the E-M5 and E-M10 line will continue
– Olympus repeated their focus on MFT because of the flexibility and mobility advantage
DC.watch also posted this video showing the impressive new stabilization system:
Les ventes d’hybrides vont dépasser celles des reflex en 2019 (Lesnumeriques).
This is the first Panasonic 50mm f/1.4 S real world review. A stunning performance! (L-rumors).
Kevin: “https://vimeo.com/316211177. Shot all handheld with the powerful GH5S in 4K 60P DCI 10 Bit Pro Res LT to the Atomos Shogun Inferno. Captured in V-Log L and color converted to the Alexa Color Science with the Emotive GHAlex(a) process. This resulted in soft, pastel like coloring, and a smooth highlight roll off in the specular highlights. The grading is imperfect due to time constraints, but should serve as a testament to what these cameras are capable of!”
It’s expected that a constant aperture lens is much bigger than the Leica. Moreover the Olympus has a handy built-in 1.2x converter. I hope they don’t go crazy with the price…I expect something around $2,500…?
And today also Olympus Japan confirmed the PEN-F has been discontinued. I repeat it once more that I have heard of NO PEN-F II coming any time soon. And if you read on other rumors sites that a PEN-FII has been registered this is a a FAKE news as the registration has only been made to extend the rights on the current PEN-F model.
The fact that we are seeing the PEN-F discontinued before a new model has been announced make me worry a lot for the future of the PEN-F. I have heard from reliable sources that PEN-F sales did not meet the expected sales target…

Reminder: Don’t trust the other “rumor sites” saying a new Olympus PEN-F camera has been registered. Explanation WHY there is no new PEN-F camera registration:
1) You don’t trust us? Look at 100% reliable Nokishita that did not report this registration because there is NO NEW PEN-F registration!
2) The current PEN-F registration would have expired in January that’s why they made a new registration (with new PLG ID number) to extend it.
3) Olympus registers NEW cameras with “IMxxx” code as usual!
