Two years ago Panasonic said they could launch the first 8K camera in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. But this ain’t going to happen. The new target is 2020. Nikkan reports (google translated text):

(FT3) Olympus E-M5III uses same E-M1II sensor

If you were hoping the E-M5III would get a new sensor your hopes were misplaced. I am still not 100% sure but I have been told the new E-M5III will use the same E-M1II sensor with 121 cross-type phase detection pixels.

Still, I expect Image Quality and Autofocus to improve over the E-M1II due to the new processor…
