Olympus takes second spot on the Japanese mirrorless market

Share

Olympus is no more the leader in the mirrorless system camera market. According to a new BCNretail report during the first six months 2018 Canon is on top with 30,1% share over Olympus 27,7% share.

Still a mystery for me how such an incomplete system like the one that Canon has can overthrow all other mirrorless makers (Olympus-Panasonic-Fuji-Sony).

Panasonic Lumix DC-GX9 added to Dpreview’s studio scene comparison

GX9 at BHphoto. Adorama. Amazon. FocusCamera

Dpreview added the Panasonic Lumix DC-GX9 on their studio scene comparison:

“Our technical evaluation of the Panasonic GX9 has included a trip to the studio, where we put its 20MP Four Thirds sensor in front of our standard test scene. We’ve seen solid image quality from this sensor before, but Panasonic says that it has gone one step further and improved color rendition compared to both the 20MP GX8 and 16MP GX85. Take a closer look at its performance against its predecessors as well as its peers.”

(FT3) More confirmation about a new super high end Olympus camera!

Share

Today a third source confirmed the rumors about a new super high end Olympus camera coming in 2019:

I have also heard about Olympus coming out with a “super high end” camera next year.  I was not told that it would be teased at Photokina, but I was told that the E-M1 MkII would be surpassed by a new camera.  No further details were provided.

I repeat that as far as I heard this is not the E-m1III or E-M5III but a new line of cameras. This sounds really exciting! I hope trusted sources can share us some solid details soon…
