Analog throwback: Olympus 35 RD (Review & Sample Photos)

Share

Analog Insights:

In this video, I review the Olympus RD 35, a beautiful camera from the 1970s that features a fixed 40mm f/1.7 Zuiko lens, automatic exposure, and rangefinder focusing. The Olympus 35 RD is well-suited for street photography, traveling, and capturing special moments around family and friends. Jules and I took the camera out on a photo walk through Munich shooting two rolls of Rollei RPX 400 to test it. Watch the video to learn about our findings and thoughts.

You can buy the PEN-F on eBay.

Olympus postpones the yearly fiscal report to May 29

Share

With the release of the yearly fiscal report Olympus originally planed to give us a clear roadmap for their imaging business. We will have to wait a bit longer to get it:

Press text:

Notice Concerning announcements of the fiscal year ended March 2020

In light of the spread of the new coronavirus(COVID-19) in countries around the world, Olympus Corporation (hereinafter the “Company”) and its subsidiaries are requesting the domestic and overseas employees to work from home, etc. with the purpose of preventing infections from the spread of the new coronavirus. Under these circumstances, the Company is making every effort to continue providing products and services to medical professionals and other stakeholders. However, the Company has judged that it is difficult to proceed with the scheduled accounting procedures implemented by the Company and its domestic and overseas affiliates as scheduled. The Company will postpone the announcement of the fiscal year ended March 2020, which was scheduled for early May, to May 29th. The date of the 152nd general meeting of shareholders is scheduled for late June 2020. The Company will announce this specific schedule as soon as it is decided. The Company sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience and concern caused to our shareholders, investors, and other stakeholders, and asks you for your understanding.

(FT0) Just for fun: First fake GH6 spec list goes viral

Share

Readers asked me about the following GH6 specs list posted on a Spanish Facebook Group. As far as I know this is just a pure speculation but seeing that the news front is a bit in lockdown modus too I will post it for the sake of (clickbait) discussion :)

Rumors …
Announcement of the arrival of the Lumix GH6 at the end of the year. It was planned to be announced at photokina 2020, but for what we are living these days, CP + 2021 is possibly postponed until the release date. Of the new GH6 it is commented that there will be three models, depending on their orientation. These will be GH6, GH6V and GH6X.
Some specifications would be in the absence of official public confirmation:
– Longer battery life.
– New IBIS stabilization system.
– Sensor, Attention !! Of 41 Mpx. Exactly the Sony IMX594CQR.
– Faster new generation AF system.
– It will record in RAW at 4K, 6K and Panasonic will incorporate depending on the 8K model.
It will most likely be announced in August – September 2020, to be released in early 2021.

Funny part aside, I hope to get some GH6 info soon. Because as far as I know this should be really Panasonic’s next BIG thing to come…
