CineD interviewed MR. Yosuke Yamane-san, Director of Panasonic’s Imaging Business Unit. Here a a couple of take aways:

  • COVID-19 delayed the GH6 launch
  • one of the goals in developing the GH6 was to be able to produce “zero-edit” images
  • About the “Missing” Phase detection AF Yamane-san goes on to say that the company is of course not neglecting other technologies per se, but for this particular model, the decision was made to use existing technologies and further improve them

OM Digital Global Marketing Eiji Shirota has been interviewed by Japanese youtuber Gizmomo. First he explained why they decided to stick to the 20MP resolution (google translated):

  • The problem with changing the sensor this time was that the sensor has changed significantly by greatly increasing the resolution.
  • The other is to increase high sensitivity resistance and noise resistance.
  • Regarding the resolution, I was thinking of improving the number of pixels, but on the other hand, there were overwhelmingly many requests for better noise immunity, so I decided to maintain the number of pixels.

At the same time OM Digital manager made it clear that they are of course considering to make future OM cameras with 8K recording capabilities.
