We are now used with very long periods without new MFT camera announcements. Some of you were worried that after the big OM-1 and GH6 launch we might have entered a very slow and boring period. But today I am here to tell you that I am now 100% certain there will be new MFT camera announcements in 2022. I am working to get the details about those models, but if the GH6 and OM-1 are too expensive for you, than wait for what’s coming next!
Here is the video about it (please subscribe the new youtube channel).

ThePhoBlographer concludes:
The Panasonic Leica 25-50mm f1.7 lens is exactly what the Micro Four Thirds system needs. While the lens is heavier and pricier than most other lenses for this system, the mixture of sharp subjects and smooth backgrounds will be worth the investment for many photographers. It’s a great option for several different types of shoots, including portraits and events.
While this lens is excellent, it is an investment. Hopefully, the Leica in the name will help the lens retain more of its value if resold down the road. It’s also heavier, though not terribly so. If you pixel peep, you might notice some very occasional chromatic aberration and soap bubble bokeh. And, for Olympus shooters, that aperture ring is just dead weight.
The Panasonic Leica 25-50mm f1.7 delivers a mix of sharpness, bokeh, and versatility that make it a go-to lens for photographers lucky enough to have the budget for it. It’s a lens I would have on my wish list if I shot Panasonic; there would be some hesitation for Olympus because of the lack of aperture ring compatibility in such a pricey lens. I’m giving this lens five out of five stars.

PcMag concludes:
Photographers with a big stash of Micro Four Thirds lenses had some heart-skipping moments when Olympus spun off its camera division. But OM System has already put photographers at ease with a quality lens, the 20mm F1.4 Pro. It’s early days, and the OM-1 is just starting to ship to photographers, but our time with the camera has already shown it to be a big step forward for the Micro Four Thirds format. Time will tell if it’s remembered as well as its legendary namesake.
In terms of handling, the camera’s build quality is a tick up from the last generation of Olympus cameras—buttons feel better and the viewfinder is a big improvement over the one on the E-M1 Mark III. We also like the refreshed menus, which are a bit easier on the eyes. The sensor and processor upgrades make for snappy response all around.
But there are a few disappointments. We’re happy that OM included so many subject recognition modes, but autofocus isn’t completely reliable, and you need to tell the camera what type of subject you’re targeting. The $2,200 price isn’t totally out of line for such a capable camera, but it puts in the ballpark of full-frame models like the excellent Canon EOS R6 ($2,499), and well above the $1,700 Fujifilm X-T4, our current Editors’ Choice winner for less-than-full-frame mirrorless cameras.
Ultimately, if you’re using an E-M1 series camera, the OM-1 is a significant upgrade and still takes all of your Micro Four Thirds lenses. It’s also an excellent option (and system) if you care most about portability.
