GH6 review by Provideocoalition

Preorders: GH6 at BHphoto, Amazon, Adorama. In EU at Fotokoch DE, Calumet DE, Foto Erhardt DE. WexUK, Park UK.

ProVideoCoalition reviewed the GH6 and concluded:

At the end of the day, if you have any kind of investment in MFT glass, and you’re happy with the kind of footage you’ve been getting with it, then the GH6 is a solid upgrade or expansion to your kit. Other gear might have its own advantages, but it won’t have everything that the Panasonic Lumix GH6 does. It’s already making my shoots easier. I regret nothing. Enjoy.

SPINN just reinvented how you can protect your gear with this fully adhesive wrap

Share

The well known company Spinn announced this rather unique adhesive wrap on Kickstarter (Click here). At first glance this looks like something very simple but it actually is quite cool. See the videos:

In orthopedics, similar materials have been around for a long time. Spinn has translated this principle together with a well-reputed manufacturer into a soft, firm and protective material. If you like it preorder it now on Kickstarter (Click here).

Sony’s new “Octa PD” doubles the AF phase detection points

Share

OM Digital future cameras may one day use the new Sony’s “All Pixel Autofocus (AF)” technology also named “Octa PD”:

  • “Octa PD” is a technology that multiplies “Dual PD” with sensors in the Quad Bayer array. This method is suitable for large sensors that can achieve the excellent AF performance of all-pixel AF while maintaining the “high sensitivity” and “HDR compatibility” that are the features of Quad Bayer.
  • In particular, Octa PD is unique in that it can acquire phase differences in all pixels of long exposure, medium exposure, and short exposure during HDR operation, and realizes high-speed AF operation regardless of the brightness of the subject.

Octa PD is a structure that combines a quad Bayer sensor with Dual PD (Canon’s so-called dual pixel) technology, and can realize extremely high-level phase AF regardless of the brightness of the subject. Since the Octa PD has already been adopted by Sharp’s AQUOS R7 and has been put into practical use, it may be only a matter of time before this technology is adopted for larger sensors.
