I got a super wild rumor (Thanks to the source!) claiming that the Panasonic G9II will be announced the the IFA in Berlin. I got no specs other than the rumor that this will be the first Panasonic MFT camera with phase detection autofocus.

It appears that lately I am incredibly busy reporting stuff that is getting discontinued by Panasonic and OM Digital. Indeed there are a ton of lenses and cameras that are being delisted. This is probably part of a strategy to streamline and simplify the portfolio. I hope that after that both Panasonic and OM will be ready to announce new products!

This week I told you the G9 was marked as discontinued in Japan. And first clearing sales are now running in Europe. A reader (Thanks!) sent me this:

Kit price G9 + Leica 12-60mm = 8490 DKK
Lens price Leica 12-60mm = 7990 DKK, at the same store.
Theoretically meaning that you for G9 only pay 500 DKK = 67 EUR – at that store.
However, lowest market price for the lens is 5495 DKK at https://www.kamerahuset.dk/ giving a G9 “price” = 2995 DKK = 402 EUR.
But still could seem like that they want to clear their stock of G9 kits.
I hope Panasonic will soon announce the G9II
