Panasonic GH1: worldwide price drops.

Share

We noticed that the Panasonic price dropped in many countries. As you may remember few weeks ago we posted a rumor which said that the GH1 could become a successor in February-March. We don’t know (and we don’t believe) that the current price drops has something to do with the rumored successor release.

Check for yourself the worldwide price drops:

US
– Today amazon US sells the Panasonic GH1 with 14-140mm lens for $1,299.00. In few weeks the price dropped $200 (-13%).

Germany
Let’s take a look on the 90 days price history:
Bild 7

The cheapest price you can find is in Pixmania Deutschland: 1 290 € mit dem Promo-Code DE181209 .

Other European countries
Pixmania dropped the prices in Netherland, Belgium and Italy.

UPDATE:
And that’s the UK price history (Thanks Andy!)

E-P2 – Manual Focus

Share

I found an interesting post inside the dpreview forum:

Dear all,

Manual focus on E-P2 works a bit different than on E-P1 – at least in case of m4/3 and 4/3 lenses.

Moving focus ring automatically brings up magnification view (it is by default, but you can change it through menus). That part is the same as with E-P1, but the difference is that when you stop with focus adjustments (when you stop moving focus ring), E-P2 automatically closes magnification view, and you can see the whole scene.

You can check video sample at:

http://www.mah-productions.com/pics/E_P2_ManualFocus.mp4 (approx 8MB)

and the result photo is available at:

Best regards,
Boris

43rumors redesign progress

Share

Good morning!
Wanted to give you a little redesign update.
Things are going forward slowly. The main reason is that there will be a new version of WordPress in few weeks. I am waiting until them before I start to work on it. The good news is that I found a very good Designer which will redo our logo and layout.
I am currently developing the new 43rumors section (deals-photocontest-forum-wiki). All is working very well on my local computer.

I expect to have a first beta version of the website on late January. Keep sending me your suggestions at 43rumors@gmail.com.

(FT3) More Samsung NX specs and image comparison with the Panasonic GF1

Share
[nggallery id=6]

As you may know the Samsung NX is due for release and will very likely become the first real strong MicroFourThirds competitor.

We found some more Samsung NX specs at k-rumors:

1. NX10 has Lens OIS not body built-in. He mentioned he didn’t see any special device related with body SR. emoticon – sad

2. Very good grip feeling.

3. Lighter than E-P1.

4. NX10 AF speed is way faster than E-P1.
It is not accurate but, its AF speed seems to be similar level to Panasonic GH1.

5. EVF is VGA level.

6. K-Mount adapter will be on the market at the same time with NX10.
(it is not sure that it supports AF yet.)

7. My source used only beta body, so possibilities some of above specs could be changed.

8. Samsung could launch NX10 sooner than Jan 10. But, most likely the launch will be Jan. 10.

9. The adapter doesn’t support AF. emoticon – sad

10. NX10 has “green button” to meter exposure.

11. NX10 has a mechanical type focal-plane shutter.“

We also want to ask our Canadian, Australian, Chinese, Hong Kong and Korean friends if there are big online shops in their countries we might include into the deals top bar news. Thanks!

P.S.: Starting from today our canadian readers can support our website by shopping at Amazon Canada through this link..
