GH1 vs G1 RAW comparison (dpreview forum)

Share

g1gh12

There is a GH1 vs G1 RAW comparison thread inside the dpreview forum.Klick on picture to see it at normal size.

g1gh1

This comparison is made at ISO3200, equal exposure for both, sharpening and NR turned off and developed with RawTherapee.

The people inside the forum have different opinions, some believes the GH1 is clearly better some other believes the difference is minimal. At first look it seems the banding issue at high ISO is still here (it looks slightly different between the two cameras). And may the G1 still looks a little sharper?

Title World Champion Guo Yue executing a forehand loop
Author Sandiway Fong
Camera Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5. 1/25 sec exposure
Text Why interesting or special? An action shot.
Non-DSLR camera has trouble with lag for capturing action. You need to anticipate. I just got lucky here.
Composition: Notice motion blur capturing speed of her stroke.
Foreground and background are sharp by contrast – the opposite of most photographers getting sharp subject and blurry background/foreground (bokeh). My cropping is mean to emphasize that.Cheers!

The new design so far…

Share

It is gone quickly today. We found the theme we were looking for. Thanks your donations and clicks on advertising we had the money to spend the 75$ for the theme. Our main goal is to make a more enjoiable website with less confusing advertising presence.

The list of changes includes:

1) Comments and most popular posts should become more importance

2) Every post on the main page shows you the last comment.

3) US, UK, german and soon french and canadian people will see amazon (and may other companies) direct link to the most interesting products. It is by far better than the adsense banner. We get 5% commission for every product you buy after clicking the banner (coul be even a book!). If you are occasionally amazon buyer and you may like our ob you can buy EVERYTHING by simply clicking over the product or over the amazon logo.

All other people will see the adsense banner instead.

4) We added a live-chat. We will try it ou, just for fun :)

5) We cutted the stupid google search option. Now you can use a normal search tool.

This is just the beginning. We have a looooong list!!!

(UPDATED) We need your screenshots!

Share

UPDATE: People from the uk should see an amazon UK widget, US people the same from amazon US, than we have the german widget for German readers. Every other country should see a “normal” adsense banner”. Is it correct? Thanks!

.

Dear readers. We are still working on the new design. We need to know if the language checker does his job. Could you send us screenshots from US, UK, Germany, Canada, Spain, France and seomwhere else?

Please send it to 43rumors@gmail.com

Thanks!

(FT 4) All four Olympus prime lenses!

Share

countdown_two_lens

I finally have the probable focal lenths of all four primes. These are all Olympus Zuiko four thirds lenses. They could be released at the end of the year, but I dont have any explicit information on their release date.

In short Olympus plans to release the following lenses:

1) 100mm macro

2) 14mm (f2.0?)

3) 25mm(f2.0?)

4) 35mm(f2.0?)

These lenses are highly desired by Olympus DSLR owners. Primes are very attractive because normally they are very high quality, big aperture lenses which are more portable than zooms. I am still hoping Olympus could surprise us and release these lenses with faster apertures (maybe the 35mm will be f1.4?). Do YOU have any suggestions for Olympus? I’m sure they know our blog very well. So please, comment and tell them what you want!

Me first,

25mm 1.4

and

35mm 1.4

.

Feel free to share this information in your blogs and forums but it would be nice if you post a link to our article. Thank you!

UPDATE: I (Alejandro) want to share you some feelings. A friend of mine who works as photographer for a BIG agency had the chance to try out some new unknown Nikon lenses. He told me he don’t know which kind of lenses Nikon will effectively release on market. That story should remind you that may Olympus has some options in his hands. And MAY they will choose to get faster with the lenses. I am relatively sure that the focal lenght we gave you should be the right one. But like you I hope (and see a good chance) that Olympus can make this lens faster than we expect.
