When will Elicar release that lens?

Ok Zeiss, Schneider and Cosina will make Micro Four Thirds lenses but there is also one more small company that will join the group. At photokina 2010 the japanese company Elicar showed that 4,5-6,3/300-600 Micr Four Thirds lens prototype. So what happened since then? Did you got some news about when the lens will be available?

The official Voigtländer US reseller Cameraquest updated the [shoplink 15659]Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95[/shoplink] shipment status:
“February 8th Update: The upcoming February 25/.95 shipment is indeed SOLD OUT. The people first in line to receive a lens with their deposits have been emailed. A 2nd group which might get lenses due to cancellations has been emailed, as well as the third group which is unlikely to receive a lens out of this shipment because they are too far down the lists. WHEN IS THE NEXT SHIPMENT? I don’t know, but I would guess at least a month away.”

There are a very few of them on auction at [shoplink 15659]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink] (but sometimes very expensive!). I got mine at [shoplink 19533 ebay]Bayern Fotoversand[/shoplink] which will have it in Stock within the next 2-3 weeks. They ship to Europe only.

After weeks of shooting I can say the lens is extraordinary. I am very happy with it. But to be honest I still shot most of my images with my “cheap” [shoplink 14798]Olympus 17mm[/shoplink] lens. This because with the Nokton the camera isn’t pocketable and I usually want to travel as light as possible.

Is that the “Nikon Coolpix Pro“?

You can stop to hold your breath Olympus and Panasonic. Breathe! If the latest rumor we received from a new source turns out to be true than Nikon will announce a mirrorless system with very tiny sensor in April!
UPDATE: The system will be named “Nikon Coolpix Pro“. The name suggests that Nikon might uses tiny sensors for it and there are patents that support a sensor size of 16mm, and lenses with a coverage of approx 17mm. This will be approx 2.5x cropfactor.

P.S.: I got some info about the possible Nikon mirrorless system. I will post them soon at MR. If the rumor is correct than Micro Four Thirds doesn’t have to fear that competition. THANKS to the anonymous source that gave me that! I hope to correctly interpret the message ;)

Fuji X100 to start shipment on March 5th in Japan. Image samples by CNET!

In a presentation made in Tokyo Fuji announced the [shoplink 19929]X100[/shoplink] will start shipping on march 5th in Japan. Fuji also said the X100 is the first of a series of X cameras.

Leonard Goh from CNET Asia unboxed and tested the Fuji X100 (see video on top).

First E-PL2 video with new converters (+compact camera patent design)

The video I posted above is the first made with the Olympus Pen EPL-2 with Macro , Fisheye and Wide-angle converters! Sadly you can’t find them in Stock right now :(
