(FT3) new Samsung NX-5 camera? + Samsung vs MicroFourThirds comparisons

Share

Sometimes we receive rumors about other brands. We received some about Samsung which we are going to post here. According to our sources a new Samsung NX camera could be announced soon. Very likely it will be a compact NX camera. One possible leak has been spotted on multitronic.se. They list the NX-5 on their homepage and the NX-5 +18-55mm costs 135$ less than the NX-10+18-55mm combo.

What’s more interesting for us as MicroFourThirds users is that today we found two new Samsung vs MFT comparisons:

1) The HongKong website Unwire.hk made a GF1 vs E-P2 vs NX10 comparison.
2) And there is one more comparison on the very known german magazine der Spiegel: Samsung NX10 vs. Olympus EPL1 (deutsch / google english translation)

P.S.: Today the Samsung NX10 is in Stock at Adorama and BHphoto. So it is official…we are not alone on the earth :)

Sending your request to Panasonic and Olympus

Share

Few days ago I asked you to give me your questions to Olympus and Panasonic. I collected them all and today I wills end the emails to Olympus and Panasonic.
I have no idea if they will really answer you. Many of the questions you made were really detailled and probably they can’t give you a specific answer to future products. I will let you know when they will write me back. I am really “curious” to know what they say.

Reminder…this are your questions:
for Olympus
for Panasonic

Mr. Yoshiyuki Inoue and Mr. Shozo Katagiri form Panasonic interviewed on DSRLmagazine

Share

Really, the spanish DSLRmagazine is becoming one of my favorite websites. They know how to make interviews!

A lot of infos were given by Mr. Yoshiyuki Inoue and Mr. Shozo Katagiri form Panasonic. You can read the google english translation by clicking here.

And here the key points of the interview:
1) Panasonic doesn’t work on a “double-capture sensor” because of the complex patent system
2) No Global Shutter for now :(
3) The new cameras G2 and G10 not only incorporate general improvements to autofocus by contrast, it also will provide better results (especially autofocus speed) with the objectives Four Thirds, when used via adapter.
4) We are not ruling out the entry of new “players” inside the MicroFourThirds world :)

Cheap rumor: Canon mirrorless system

Share

Amateur Photographer created a lot of noise with following “rumor”:

AP found an article inside the japanese trade journal Pen News Weekly…which again found an article inside Photo Trade Express…they had a small talk with an unnamed “Canonguy”…and what is he saying? “Canon is proceeding with the development of a mirror-less interchangeable lens camera to compete against models launched by Panasonic, Olympus and Samsung”

43rumors sources didn’t hear anything about a future Canon mirrorless camera but I bet that they are working on it.

3) Panasonic LX4
Finally I got some (bad) news from a trusted source. He told me the Panasonic LX3 successor will not be announced soon. He also told me that “the Panasonic LX3 is a camera which is very popular in Europe and US and less in Asia. So we should expect an announcement for Photokina (September).”.
Possible release: September 2010

4) Panasonic 14mm f/2.5
The lens is a third stop faster than expected (Originally Panasonic told us the lens would be a f/2.8).
Release expected in June-July.
P.S.: The Panasonic 100-300mm f/4 will come at Photokina 2010.

5) Panasonic GH2 rumors
EOSHD spotted a new Panasonic patent which shows a GH1 similar camera with metal body.
The new metal body has heat radiators and heat conductors to remove heat from around the image processing unit and the CMOS sensor. Read more at EOSHD!
Possible release: September 2010

6) Olympus E-5
In an interview with Amateur Photographer MR.Terada from Olympus said that “we are planning to introduce new Four Thirds bodies in the future” and “a replacement for the top-end E-3 is being worked on“.

7) Olympus E-460
Few days ago DxO mark “leaked” a possible Olympus E-450 replacement called “E-460“.
