First test with the unique Panasonic CM1 smartphone!

Share

Matt Granger just posted this video testing the incredible sexy and unique Panasonic CM1 smartphone. Some low resolution image samples have been posted also on his website. There is also an interesting test in German posted by Chip.de on Youtube. This is just an example of how much better the CM1 is than one of the best Smartphone-cameras out there. The Panasonic CM1 is listed at Panasonic Germany, Panasonic Austria, Panasonic France. For now it will be available in those countries only by end of this year for 899 Euro. I hope Panasonic will sell this worldwide in 2015. And now the big question:

Would you buy the Panasonic CM1?

Schneider is silent on MFT lenses. Rumor has it production limitation delays MFT lens launch.

Share

Photoscala unofficially writes that Schneider could have production issues because of their very popular Cine Lens demand. And therefore the MFT launch delay. Last time we from 43rumors got news about these lenses were via email from Schneider directly where they wrote:

Many thanks for your interest in our M43 lens.
From today’s perspective the lens is expected  in 2014.
Thank you for your kind understanding and patience.

So let’s hope Schneider will tell us more about those MFT lenses during Photokina!

Olympus 40-150mm hands-on review by Pekka Potka.

Share

Note:
Preorder the 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO lens at Amazon, Adorama, Bhphoto, GetOlympus and at Wex UK.

Pekka Potka is the first Olympus 40-150mm tester sharing his thoughts about the new lens

This is what he writes about the Optical Quality:

Optically, I really would say this lens is outstanding. There should be nothing to be worried about when production models start shipping. I did not run into any negative issues with the lens alone. With teleconverter attached I noticed that the combination is more sensitive to extremely bright object inside image than with the lens alone at same focal length when shooting wide open.

This is what he writes about the Usability:

For me this lens feels as very nice from every point of view. It is not big nor heavy but has speed and quality. I have used it hand held (no monopod) for two 9 hour days in airshow and carried it around in the wild without feeling any fatique at all. The lens and E-M1 body with hood collapsed fit easily into a compact backpack.

Small surprise: Olympus drops the Silver E-M1 price (-$100!).

Share

Between today and September 20 Olympus will offer an additional $100 discount on the Silver E-M1. It now matches the price of th Black version. The discount is already showing up at Amazon and GetOlympus. I think Adorama and Bhphoto will catch up soon. Those of you who preordered the camera yesterday (with the $1,399 price) should ask for the $100 discount.

If you ask me the price of the Silver E-M1 should have been the same as of the Black version right from the very first day.

A look at the Amazon US sales ranking: 40-150mm and LX100 doing best!

Share

What’s hot and what’s not? The most popular new MFT product is definitely the Panasonic LX100! Let’s take a look at the Amazon US rankings to see what gets the most preorders:

Amazon Lens ranking (Click here): The Olympus 40-150mm PRO lens is doing fine and made it into the top 20. The 35-100mm doesn’t appear into the top 100 list :(

Amazon Mirrorless ranking (Click here): A bit strange, but the LX100 falls into that category according to Amazon and is clearly leading the ranking! And the GM5 is doing well too. Not doing so well is the Silver E-M1.

Amazon overall camera ranking (Click here): LX100 is doing super well!
