The first real Panasonic GH4 competitor is the Sony A7s. And today Sony unveiled the pricing which is $2499 at Amazon. So let’s just take a short look about the advantages and disadvantages of each camera:
Sony A7s advantages:
Super clean High ISO. ISO range goes up to 409,600.
Full Frame look (that for some people is an advantage).
Big pixels likely means Higher Dynamic range and Color fidelity.
Superior Stills Image Quality (but with a bit less Megapixels)
Panasonic GH4 advantages:
4K recording on SD cards (A7s needs an external 4K recorder and can record XAVC-s 50Mbit/s at best)
10 bit output (A7s has 8bit output)
Autofocus is much faster (A7s autofocus pretty much sucks)
More available native lenses and cheaper. A7 system only has five (mostly expensive) FE lenses right now.
Powerzoom lenses (A7s has one on roadmap but price and release still have to be defined).
$900 cheaper.
Actually it’s $2900 cheaper if you want 4K because the A7s “forces” you to buy the Atomos Shogun (here at BHphoto)
In short:
Let me know if I forgot to mention som major differences. But so far it looks like that overall the GH4 has the edge. I am sure at photokina we will get more and likely also cheaper 4K cameras. And we have to see by then if Panasonic managed to sell plenty of GH4 cameras…
Well, as previsouly told the Olympus E-PL7 is going to be announced soon and theses images do come directly from the E-PL7 manual! Specs are no secret neither because this is going to be PEN version of the E-M10 :)
LIke you see there are quite some changes on the button layout between the new E-Pl7 and the current E-PL5.

The GH4 will be back in Stock in late May at Amazon, Adorama, BHphoto, Ritz Camera and Panasonic.
Meantime Gordon Laing posted the full GH4 review at CameraLabs and writes:
If you’re only judging the GH4 on stills, it’s clearly very good, but you can match or beat it with cheaper models. But if you’re interested in video, the Lumix GH4 is triumphant. Yes it’s noisy at high ISOs, but look at the price! 4k video with internal recording and 1080p at 96fps, squeezed into a compact camera that’s also respectable for stills – all for under $2000 USD? Our source (Thank You!) were right and the E-P5 now got the 0 shock feature via firmware update. The bad news is that the same source said there is no E-M5 firmware update coming any time soon. This means no 0 anti shock feature coming for E-M5 camera owners yet.
In the meantime Dpreview already tested the zero shock feature of the E-P5 and writes:
e haven’t done any real-world shooting with this yet, but our test shots suggest it’s very effective at reducing image shake at the ‘danger’ speeds. The blurring that’s visible in the first image below is reduced by enabling 0 sec anti-shock. The mode adds a very subtle delay to the shutter response, but one measured in miliseconds. We see no reason not to ensure ‘0 Sec Anti-Shock’ is always applied – resolving the issue outlined in our original review.
