(FT3) Panasonic FZ300 specs: Sony 4/3 sensor, clean 4K readout and 24-400mm Leica lens.

Share

Two months ago Panasonic registered three new camera names: G7, GX8 and FZ300. The G7 has been announced, the GX8 will be announced around September but it’s still unclear when Panasonic will announce the FZ300. And recently an anonymous source sent me some info about that camera:

FZ 1000 MKII (or FZ300) will be released in September. It will feature a different approach from the FZ 1000 MK I in that according to my source, it will feature a 24-400 leica lens, F1.8 – F4, with F1.8 up to 30mm, and at 200mm F 2.8.
Also, it will have a mic input, 4K video full sensor readout clean (no crop), and the biggest news is this will feature the Sony 4/3 sensor.
Capacitive touchscreen, articulating LCD, and 2.36m EVF.
Styling will be radically different too however I do not have these details.
The price will be $1499 USD.

I have yet no clue if those specs are correct or not. But if they are this sounds like a hell of an amazing camera!

First 43rumors reader review of the new Nokton 10,5mm lens.

Share

Dylan Cuthbert is one of the first 43rumors readers who received the new Nokton 10,5mm f/0.95 MFT lens. And he sent me this:

“I received the Voigtlander Nokton 10.5mm f/0.95 lens this morning and after a few test shots I think it is going to be a lot of fun to use.  Here are a couple of those test shots:
https://flic.kr/p/veDzQd
https://flic.kr/p/vfasbZ

And finally, a bokeh test, fully open and lens almost touching the keyboard, look at that crazy bokeh swirly stuff that’s going on near the borders!
https://flic.kr/p/vfvS8n

There is also a hands-on report at BCcamera:

“Wide open at F0.95, the Nokton doesn’t seem very sharp or perhaps it’s because the focal plane is so tiny that it’s hard to judge. With 10 aperture blades, out of focus elements are rendered smooth. Stopping down slightly to F2.0 is a huge improvement in sharpness already and it’s excellent at F2.8, at which point you get diminishing returns on sharpness stopping down further.

It’s really an amazing lens from Voigtlander. Just like all other Nokton 0.95 lenses they made before (and which I do own).

You can get the lens in many stores like BHphoto (Click here), [shoplink 53940 ebay]CameraQuest (Click here)[/shoplink] and [shoplink 54016 ebay]Photovillage (Click here)[/shoplink]. First Speedbooster XL review on the GH4.

The new XL Speed Booster on the GH4 (Image courtesy: Newsshooter).

Newsshooter (Click here) posted the first review of the brand new SpeedBooster XL adapter:

By precisely matching the S35 frame size and expanding low light shooting capabilities, the new Metabones makes the Panasonic GH4 (and new G7) a very interesting proposition if you are looking for a less expensive 4K S35 camera – especially for those who have an investment in Canon glass.

What the GH4 now offers is a S35 camera that can record 4K internally in 8-bit, plus 10-but recording externally to a recorder like the Atomos Shogun – a trick that even the new Sony a7R II can’t pull off. What the GH4/Speedbooster combination really lacks now is the highly anticipated V-log profile, something I hope will come very soon from Panasonic.

The Speedbooster XL is not of course a Panacea. Don’t expect the images coming out of the GH4 combo to beat a RED Dragon or an ARRI Alexa. It won’t. For now though I would be happy to recommend it to GH4 users who want the S35 frame size without the expense.
