Panasonic New Zealand confirmed via Twitter that the new V-LOG firmware update will arrive in October. V-LOG will dramatically improve the video quality performance of the GH4 as tested recently by TheCameraStoreTV.
I guess after shooting with the GX8 for a week I’m appreciating the GX8 for what it is – a modern photographers camera. Size and mic port aside what I found was that because of the quality of the JPEGs out of camera and the larger size, I was able to put my efforts into capturing beautiful moments of a special time in my life. At the end of my life I won’t be thinking about the GX8, the size or other quirks I’ll be looking at the images and reliving my 40th with my wife.
He mentioned that there would be a “firmware update before the end of July to update the Hi-Res option to as low as 1/80 shutter speed”. I’d presumed that when he said “1/80 shutter speed for the high-res” that he meant the whole process of taking the complete photo would take 1/80 sec. Maybe he meant each of the 8 photos/sensor moves would take 1/80 sec… which gives ~1/10 of a second to take a photo.
