New Panasonic GF7 doesn’t sell in any meaningful quantity at Amazon US.

Share

gf7pink

Of course this has to be taken with a grain of salt. But usually newly announced cameras manage to get soemwhere within the most sold 100 mirrorless camera chart at Amazon (Click here). Well, the GF7 is the first new MFT camera that doesn’t make it into the top 100 the first day of the announcement.

New Panasonic GF7 doesn’t sell in any meaningful quantity at Amazon US. Well I guess Panasonic’s goal with the GF7 was to appeal the Asian market in first place. So that may not be a big problem for Panasonic. Let’s hope the GX8 will get more “attention” from all of us :)

(FT5) Real world images of the Olympus 14-150mm F4-5.6 II lens and ECG-2 grip.

A source sent me those images showing for the first time the Olympus 14-150mm F4-5.6 II lens and ECG-2 grip in “real life” images. He writes:

I somehow managed to get my hands on the unreleased 14-150mm F4-5.6 II and a “ECG-2” grip.I’ve attached a picture of the new 14-150 lens beside my 45mm F1.8, for comparison. I did a quick measurement of the lens height and it seems to be the same 83mm height from front element to base (where the lens meets mount, not the absolute rear. So it probably has the same design as the original, only cosmetic changes.
I’ve also tried the ECG-2 grip on my E-M10 + 75-300mm. It works, for it’s not a perfect fit. The grip is larger than the body. Definitely looks like a new accessory for the E-M5 mark II.

The good news is that the new Olympus 14-150mm F4-5.6 II lens is splash proof as you see from the lens mark on the firts of the following images:

One more picture of the new lens on my gm5, side by side with e-m10 + 75-300 + egg-2 grip.

Two first full Panasonic GF7 reviews!

Share

We already have two full reviews of the new GF7 announced today. Both reviewers draw a very positive conclusion:

Photographyblog writes:

So while the Panasonic Lumix GF7 mainly seems to be trying to attract the attention of the selfie crowd, its actually a feature-rich camera that takes excellent pictures and which can easily be stored in a coat pocket with the supplied 12-32mm kit lens fitted. If you need a flash or viewfinder, the Lumix GM5 is a better fit, but otherwise the new Panasonic Lumix GF7 is the best GF-series model yet, selfie or no selfie…

ePhotozine writes:

The most likely issues you may find with the GF7 are the lack of flash hot-shoe, and short battery life, making it less appealing to the more serious photographer. For the majority of people having a built in flash will be preferable, and the mode dial makes the camera easier to use for every level of photographer. Image quality is very good, with the camera delivering sharp detailed photos with good colour, and low levels of noise. The Wi-Fi implementation is very good, giving remote control and numerous shooting options straight from your smartphone or tablet. There are a few, very minor niggles, including short battery life, but we can very happily highly recommend the camera.
