(FT3) Hot latest minute rumor: Olympus E-M1II could feature an Olympus designed and Sony produced sensor!

Share

E-M1II

I posted about that scenario many months ago: Olympus the E-M1II camera with two different sensors: One with the Sony 20MP sensor and one with an Olympus designed sensor produced by Sony. And now taratataaa! fingers crossed that the following rumor is true:

Just now I got two different hints from two sources that Olympus opted to launch the E-M1II with their own designed sensor! I am now working to confirm this rumor via trusted sources. I hope they are reading this and they will confirm or deny that rumor soon!

All other E-M1II specs are confirmed:

4k
improved image stabilization system
Handheld high resolution mode
dual SD card slot
improved AF

See how much less the Japanese camera makers are selling after the Kumamoto earthquake :(

Share

What you see on the graph on top are the first tangible results of the Kumamoto earthquake damages. Camera shipment of Japanese companies reached a record low ever for the month of May and June (Source CIPA-PDF file here).. As you know Olympus had to delay the E-PL8 camera launch due the Sony sensor production stop. it’s also rumored that the E-M1II and Gh5 could ship much later than previously expected.  And regarding the GH5, rumors are getting stronger that the launch might NOT happen at Photokina at all!
