Additional notes to the Schneider decision to not make MFT lenses.

Schneider stated at Photoscala that the MFT sales on the worldwide market are dropping. And therefore it makes little sense for them to make lenses. But I think you don’t have to read too much into it because at the same time they also said they are considering to not make the FF lenses for Nikon and Canon they presented back at Photokina. I guess they simply saw little chance for them in the overall photo camera lens market. This is not a special MFT market problem.

(FT5) Panasonic will announce new MFT products in mid July!

Bildschirmfoto 2015-05-09 um 07.15.36

We have been told by highly reliable sources that Panasonic will have a public announcement in mid July (around July 15-16-17). There will be a new MFT lens (likely a tele lens) and certainly one or event two new cameras. As you know Panasonic officially registered two new cameras: The GX8 and FZ300. I am yet not 100% sure if both will be announced on that same event. Should get some more info soon. Stay tuned!

Panasonic_G7_Silver

Dpreview (Click here) posted the full Panasonic G7 review and writes:

The Panasonic G7 is an impressive all-rounder, combining solid image quality, impressive autofocus performance and 4K (UHD) capability into a compact body with extensive external controls. Its user interface can be a little unwieldy but has moments of genius in the ability to use the rear screen as a touch pad to set AF point when shooting with the camera to your eye.

The camera earned a Silver award with a 80% score.

It’s official: Schneider changes his mind and will not make any MFT lenses!

Share

schneider

It’s official! Photoscala reports that Schneider withdraw the plan they had to release the three MFT lenses in 2015. So we will NEVER get those lenses! Actually the decision has not to do with a change regarding their specific Micro Four Thirds strategy. The company completely changed their focus. They will now move away from the classic Photo Lens market! They will stay in the market for Large Format lenses for Linhof, Alpa and Cambo and develop lenses for the Industrial and Cine market.

That’s bad news althaugh….Schneiders proposed MFT focal length lenses are already available within the Panasonic/Olympus lens repertoire.
