Kasey: “This is a really funny video comparing the Panasonic G85 and GH4 vs the full frame Sony a7 line up, as well as the Canon 80d and G7X.  I think your viewers would like it ;)  Shows that micro 4/3 cameras can achieve that creamy shallow depth of field comparable with the full frame cameras.

It’s quite a while the E-M1II is out of Stock in US stores. But there is a small update. The camera will ship in late January according to BHphoto. And Amazon reports a 1-2 months delivery.
UPDATE: A small Stock is now in Stock at FocusCamera (Click here).

Mat sent me this:

Now you can turn your MFT camera into a full 360 degree camera!

Share

Sphereoptics launched a new Sphere lens which can be used on any MFT camera with the proper F to MFT mount adapter.

The lens captures a full spherical 360° omnidirectional  field of view in a single image — the  first of its kind. This allows the creation of spherical video content with no stitching using a conventional camera, vastly streamlining the content creation process and enabling shots that were previously impossible.

  • Captures a complete 360° sphere without gaps in a single shot
  • Eliminates stitching process
  • Shoots extremely close (1mm) without stitching artifacts or parallax errors
  • Uses your existing professional camera and workflow

The CEO from Sphereoptics talked to Newsshooter about their new product and said:

“Originally we designed the system specifically for the Sony A7s2 because of its low light capability and ability to shoot 4K. The fact the GH4 allows 4:3 (or 1:1) enabled us to squeeze a touch more resolution out, but unfortunately it does some minor cropping.”

We just got the new GH5 but we can already tell you one feature the GH6 will definitely have: In a newly posted interview at DC.watch Panasonic once again confirmed they plan to launch a MFT camera with 8K by 2020.

To achieve that First prototypes will be unveiled and tested in 2018 (Source Nikkan). And Panasonic will once again develop image sensors after freezing such operations for the last few years, aiming for applications including 8K ultrahigh-definition technology (Source Nikkei).

In future photographers may record videos instead of single photos. With 8K every single image has a native 33MP resolution!
