Panasonic GH5 – How to open 10 bit 422 video file

Best settings for shooting wildlife with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 II (CameraJabber)

Panasonic GH5 Hands-on Review vs GH4 in 4k with sample footage (Photorec).

Plenty of news on the facebook E-M1II group and the GH5 group.

Clive:This isn’t a rumour, it’s just to advise you that the UK TV program, “The Gadget Show” just ran a back-to-back comparison between the OM-D EM-1 and the new Canon EOS-5D MkIV. Although the Canon did score more highly in a couple of aspects [I think colour reproduction and sharpness], overall both testers [John and Otis] agreed that the EM-1 was the better camera.
Chief reason seemed to be that the Canon didn’t offer a sufficient improvement in quality or features over the Olympus, despite being massively more expensive and considerably bigger.

(FT3) Are those the new Panasonic camcorder specs?

Share

I have yet no info from trusted sources about the new Panasonic Cine Camcorder. All we know from this “tweaked” image is that it seems to have EF mount.
But today an anonymous source sent me these full specs. But keep in mind that these are not from a known trusted source and I cannot guarantee you those are correct. But for sure these specs seem to be “reasonable”:

S35 sensor (from the Varicam LT)
EF-mount
14+ stops of DR
4k/1080p 10-bit 4:2:2 recording
Possible Prores recording
Two XLR inputs
SDI/HDMI output
Dual SDXC slots
Detachable sidegrip and top handle
Price: $6500

Pity to see it doesn’t have MFT mount.

Sony says 8K video on MFT sensor size is a challenge

Share

In a recent interview with Dpreview Sony said this:

Think about 8K video. To get that sort of resolution on a sensor, you need larger sensors, otherwise pixel sizes are too small. To get 8K from a micro four thirds sensor, for example, the sizes of the pixels have to be very small, around 2.3 microns. I think larger sensors are important to maintain image quality as we go to higher resolution video and stills.

So either Panasonic and Olympus will stop increasing Megapixels or they will have to find new ways to keep the Pixel size big (Foveon?). But I am pretty sure Panasonic and Olympus will increase the Megapixels. Also because Panasonic stated that they will make an 8K GH camera by 2020. And that would require a 33MP sensor.
