The camera industry is still shrinking in terms of pure camera shipment numbers. The February CIPA reports that compact camera sales dropped dramatically and also Mirrorless sales were lower than in 2017.

The only real good news is that DSLR sales raised 4% compared to February 2017.

Dpreview interviewed Panasonic managers at the Cp+ show. Here are a couple of take aways:

– Why the GH5 has no IBIS: “Professional shooters will prefer a multi-aspect sensor versus IBIS”
– Panasonic doens’t use phase detection pixels on sensor “because With phase detection AF, picture quality can be damaged”
– About a possible LX100 successor: “At this point, we can’t say when, but it is something that people are expecting.”

So yes folks, expect the LX200 to be announced in 2018 ;)
