If you were hoping the E-M5III would get a new sensor your hopes were misplaced. I am still not 100% sure but I have been told the new E-M5III will use the same E-M1II sensor with 121 cross-type phase detection pixels.

Still, I expect Image Quality and Autofocus to improve over the E-M1II due to the new processor…

Olympus officially registered a new camera model in Asia. The camera has the code IM016 and I am 99% certain this is the new E-M5III. The camera will be announced in August/September.

An anonymous source shared the following new information about the GH6:

– There seem to be discussion that next GH will have a Super 35 sensor (full size to be enabled by key),
– higher resolution
– special pixel binning algorithm for low light applications
– Dual ISO

Now, this isn’t from a reliable source so it might be wrong…still hope the GH6 will be announced this autumn!

Seems like Olympus is having a 3 day event in Austin, Texas on August 10th.  My guess is a camera announcement.

I am yet not sure they will really launch a new camera in mid August (odd timing). But for sure there will be a new OMD camera announcement in lae Summer!

I have been told theOlympus 2X teleconverter preorders will open in July. Europen price will be something around 450 Euro.

“Somebody” :) just told me that Olympus will release a new E-M1 II firmware update within two weeks. If anyone can confirm this and share more details about the possible improvements drop me a message at 43rumors@gmail.com. Thanks!

A second source told me this:

Major E-M1 Mark II firmware upgrade that will add some video functions (probably flat profile, unfortunately no 120fps FHD) and expand AF work to -5 or -6 EV (I don’t remember, I think it’s -6 like the E-M1x) with the f/1.2 lenses.

I am now working on the rumors about the late summer and autumn camera and lens releases. And to my surprise I am realizing there will be a lot of new gear from both companies!
