Olympus confirms that they are working on the E-3 successor.

In an interview with Amateur Photographer MR.Terada from Olympus said that “we are planning to introduce new Four Thirds bodies in the future” and “a replacement for the top-end E-3 is being worked on“.

We from 43rumors”believe” that the E-5 (?) will be more than just an upgraded E-3.

Now the BIG question. What happened with MR.Richard S. Pelkowski from Olympus US who weeks ago told us that the Olympus E-Sytem will go mirrorless within two years?

Mirrorless camera rumors and news from Sony, Canon, Nikon and Samsung

Let’s see what other brands are doing with their present or future mirrorless systems.

Sony:
Our partnerwebsite SonyAlphaRumors is certain Sony will launch the Sony (NEX???) mirrorless cameras in May. Key features: APS-C 14 Megapixel sensor, touchscreen, AVCHD recording, no Built-In IS, No Built-In flash.
The GH1 competitor will be announced in September.
Our bet is that the Sony rumors are correct!

Samsung:
Samsung is planning to release a compact NX model soon. A fake(?) image of such a camera has been spotted on k-rumors.
Our bet is that this Samsung will announce one more NX camera before Photokina!

Canon:
According to our sources Canon will not announce any mirrorless camera soon. In the meanhwile Canon useres are getting frustrated and are building their Canon mirrorless camera on their own :)
Our bet is that Canon will release their system after Photokina! Maybe by early 2011.

Nikon:
There were tons of rumors predicting a mirrorless camera release on PMA. Nothing happened.
Anyway we expect Nikon to unveil their own EVIL system at Photokina (September 2010)

(FT2) Panasonic GH2 patent and Panasonic 3D lenses

EOSHD spotted a new Panasonic patent which shows a GH1 similar camera with metal body.
The new metal body has heat radiators and heat conductors to remove heat from around the image processing unit and the CMOS sensor. Read more at EOSHD!

EOSHD also speculates that Panasonic could produce 3D Lens for GH1 / GH2. We from 43rumors havn’t heard anything about that. Anyway it would be really cool if that speculation becomes real!

POLL: What is the right definition for the new mirrrorless system cameras?

We do all agree that MicroFourThirds created a new category of digital cameras. But how should we call that kind of system cameras with no mirror?

Dpreview calls them ILC = Interchangeable Lens Compacts
Imaging Resource calls them SLD = Single-Lens Direct-view cameras
Than we have EVIL = electronic viewfinder interchangeable lens camera
and mirror-less interchangeable lens camera

Now it is your turn:

Do you like the design of the new Panasonic GF2?
