SLRgear (Click here) tested the new 8mm fisheye PRO lens from Olympus:

Images shot with the lens offer pleasing sharpness; corners are often out of focus in wide-aperture (ƒ/1.8) shots because of the subject distance, rather than characteristics of the lens. It doesn’t take much to get the full frame of a scene in focus – just back up and stop down a few aperture stops.

Mirrorlessons (Click here) posted the full M.Zuiko 7-14mm comparison with the Panasonic 7-14:

There isn’t a drastic difference concerning sharpness. The differences in perspective distortion are a question of taste. I would say that the Olympus lens can be a better choice for precise architectural compositions while I could recommend the Lumix version for landscapes. The M.Zuiko version has the obvious advantage of having a faster aperture, which can make all the difference on a m4/3s camera, especially when shooting indoors. It is also more versatile thanks to its closer focusing and bokeh capabilities and has a better resistance to flare.

Gordon from CameraLabs (Click here) tested the new Panasonic 30mm macro lens. He writes:

In terms of quality I have absolutely no complaints with the Lumix G 30mm f2.8. It delivers great-looking close-ups with attractive rendering, and when focused on more distant subjects will keep details sharp right into the corners. Compared with the Leica 45mm f2.8, the new Lumix looks like a bargain. Sure the Leica has a focus limiter, a more comfortable minimum focusing distance and more refined rendering, but personally speaking they’re not enough to justify the considerable price difference.

Panasonic Lumix G7 / G70 Launch – 4K – 4KPhoto Modes from Nick Driftwood on Vimeo.

Nick Driftwood tested the 4K video quality of the new G7 and writes:

A look at the new Panasonic Lumix G7 (G70 Germany) 4K Camera in 4KPhoto Modes 4:3 and 16:9 – 4K grabs are random and deliberate to demonstrate photo quality of every frame. The G7 is a fabulous low-priced 4K shooter with the GH4’s Venus 9 engine and the GX7 sensor. This camera I swear is the perfect accompaniment to the GH4 as a decent B cam or for those requiring 4K on a budget.
The .mp4 4K modes recording is excellent considering there’s no .mov file recording.
I’m very impressed with the 4KPhoto modes which have been enhanced for the G7 and are in some ways more advanced than the GH4 in that you can so much more using the internal processing power of the camera and get excellent results.
The video recording modes also offer the professional gammas Cinelike D and Cinelike V together with an S curve Highlight / Shadow borrowed from the GH4. Not only that, you get the rather cool gizmo feature of Panoramic recording in portrait or landscape, decent Time lapse animation modes, plus, a clean 4:2:2 8-bit HDMI throughput to a TV or hard disk recording/monitor device. Its also lighter and includes improved viewfinder and LCD. Great stuff Panasonic.

Robin Wong (Click here) tested the new 7-14mm PRO lens:

For Micro Four Third shooters, rejoice, the ultra wide angle Olympus M.Zuiko 7-14mm F2.8 PRO lens is indeed a stellar performer. The lens delivers sharp images, with plenty of detail resolving power. All technical flaws you can think of about a wide angle lens are well controlled and suppressed. There really is nothing much to not like about this lens. If you need a high performing ultra wide angle lens, there is currently no better option than this M.Zuiko 7-14mm F2.8 PRO lens.

Alessandro Carpentiero (Click here) had the chance to test both new PRO lenses. About the 7-14mm lens he writes:

• Incredible build quality
• The lens is very linear with a basically absent distortion: lines are very straight, making it THE lens for architectures, interiors, ecc. It does tend to stretch a bit the edges, but that’s part of the game.
• Razor sharp: seriously. I dare you to find a 14mm 2.8 lens with these edges.
• Chromatic phenomenon: Chromatic aberration is very well controlled thanks to 3 Super ED lenses, 1 ED lens and 2 EDA lenses, while  the ZERO (Zuiko Extra-Low Reflective Optical), while Coating aids in minimizing ghosting.
• Interesting bokeh: I know, wide-angle lenses are not famous (nor bought) for their bokeh, but I believe this can be an “extra bonus” for this lens. The minimum focusing distance is just 7.5cm (you really gotta be careful not to touch the subject with the lens aspherical lens) and you can have very interesting results.

And about the 8mm he writes:

• Incredible build quality. Yes, Olympus is doing a really great job with its PRO lenses. The building quality is wonderful for all of them.
• The lens distortion is very much present but well, it’s the main feature of this lens.
• It looks sharp also at f/1.8.
• Chromatic aberration was a little visible at f/1.8, but easily fixable with one click in Camera Raw.
• Bokeh: the minimum working distance is just 2.5cm (really really close). This makes it interesting for creative uses.
