Panasonic now turns 100 years old!

Panasonic launched a special 100 year anniversary page:

Panasonic was founded in 1918 by Konosuke Matsushita. That year, Panasonic introduced an improved attachment plug, which allowed people to power an electrical appliance from a light socket. Next was a double cluster socket that made it possible to power lights and appliances from a single source. Our principles of making life ever more comfortable originated from these small ideas.

Panasonic’s 100th anniversary is upon us. To address the changing times, we continue to develop the products of the future worldwide, always cherishing the principles our founder defined for us one century ago.

You can see some of their key products of their first 100 years on their page.

Competition news: Canon confirms they will go “All-in” on Mirrorless

CP+ is over and the many websites are now publishing their interviews with company managers. And we have some key news to report:

1) Canon confirmed they will now move their resources to develop mirrorless system cameras
2) Nikon said 100 Megapixel FF camera will eventually arrive
3) Fuji once more confirmed once more they will never go FF

To sum up: Both Canon and Nikon are rumored to launch Full Frame mirrorless system cameras by end 2018. The big question is whether they will launch cameras with a completely new mount or just rip off the mirror box from their current DSLR :)

I don’t know what impact these companies will have on the Micro Four Thirds world. By going Full Frame the will compete on a higher end market and not directly to the MFT-APSC world. And Canon might as well kill their EOS-M system which would be a MFT challengin system but has no native lenses at all to support it.
