Newsshooter reports that renowned camera tester Alan Roberts has released his EBU assessment of the Panasonic GH5s. What is that EBU test? Newsshooter explains:

To help maintain acceptable levels of quality in European (U)HDTV programme-making, the EBU has specified a series of measurements that will reveal a camera’s ability to produce high-quality television pictures.

The conclusion:

The GH5s has passed the European Broadcasting Union R.118 camera tests, and is approved by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) for high definition content acquisition!

Dpreview interviewed Panasonic Imaging Product Manager Sean Robinson. There are a lot of insights about the G9 and GH5s development. One curious note is that Panasonic also monitors forums and facebook groups for feedback and ideas:

We definitely don’t ignore any feedback, from anyone. It’s not always like an official interview, where we sit down and talk to someone 1:1, we’re also constantly scouring forums and Facebook groups, and when someone calls into our call center or messages us on Twitter for example, all of that information is captured. It’s collated weekly, and reported back to our team in Japan.

Olympus Japan made a major announcement today. Olympus will stop the camera production in Shenzhen City (China) and move it to their current facility in Dong Nan (Vietnam). The reason for this is the reduction of the camera market production. For that reason and to save costs all camera will be now produced in Vietnam only.
