Press text: Metabones Announces Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K Support

Vancouver, Canada, March 22, 2019 – To better support the new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, Metabones® is making 3 changes: new firmware to enable autofocus, new optics optimized for the new sensor, and a new name for the existing BMPCC Speed Booster®.

  • Metabones® releases firmware version 3.1 today, adding autofocus support to Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. The intent is not to replace, but to supplement focus-pulling in cinematography. There is no continuous autofocus, but one-shot AF is activated by pressing the focus button on the back of the camera. It may take a couple of seconds or more to lock and if used during filming will cause visible disruption in the footage. Use it before recording commences and we recommend manual focus during recording.

Fuji says 1/3 of the market is FF and 2/3 APS-C and MFT

It’s interesting to know that only two companies are not going Full Frame: Olympus and Fuji. And Fuji clearly said why:

In a recent interview released at Imaging Resource Fuji said that only 1/3 of the system camera market is Full Frame. 2/3 is APS-C and MFT.

Also interesting: They disagree with Canon’s prediction, that ILC business is going to contract by half over the next two years.
