Today OM Digital released the new lens roadmap. And it’s basically the old roadmap without one of the lenses. Below you can see that the old roadmap had two telephoto zooms ins the 40-200/250mm lens range. So basically the news today is that they did cancel one of these lenses.

One of my sources had a meeting with Om Digital. His idea is that the OM-1II had to be released as a new model because the trademark agreement to use the “Olympus” name is ending. Therefore OM Digital had to re brand the OM-1 camera and they took this chance to add some minor hardware updates (better buttons, larger buffer, improved IBIS).

We now know that the OM-1II will be a slightly improved OM-1. And that the 150-600mm lens will be a MFT version of the original Sigma 150-600mm Full Frame lens. In this video I shared my thoughts. But in short:

Asobinet spotted that the OM-1 is marked as “discontinued” in Japan. Another confirmation my rumors about the OM-1II being announced in Jan 31 is true :)
