Panasonic GH2 US shipment by mid December only. Amazon deleting the black GH2 preoders?

[shoplink 16254][/shoplink] Helen Oster (Adorama Camera Customer Service Ambassador) just wrote a comment on 43rumors: “I have an update for you; we have just been told to expect a shipment during the first half of December. I hope this helps

That info has been confirmed by a 43rumors reader (Michael) that called Adorama: “I just spoke with Adorama sales (US) and was told that the GH2 should start shipping mid of Dec.”

Alex (43rumors reader) received that message from Amazon US: “Due to a lack of availability from our suppliers, we will not be ableto obtain the following item(s) from your order: We’ve cancelled the item(s) and apologize for the inconvenience. We must also apologize for the length of time it has taken us to reach this conclusion. Until recently, we had still hoped to obtain these item(s) for you.

Thanks to Helen from Adorama and all the readers for sending us info about the GH2 availability. Feel free to comment this post if you receive some kind of info from your daler or if you have any questions for Helen.

The Olympus E-5 development story

Olympus Asia posted a E-5 development story which should be of interest for all current or future E-5 owners: “To find out what makes the E-5 so special and where the E-System is going in the future, we talked extensively with Olympus development staff and with Mitsuaki Iwago, a wildlife photographer and long-time professional Olympus user who has made many helpful suggestions and participated in many fruitful discussions.

The most interesting new feature is the TruePiC V+ engine: “Since the image sensor of a digital camera consists of regularly arranged pixels, problems such as moire and false colors are inherent in the basic principle of digital technology itself. We came up with various solutions to these problems, and the biggest feature of the new “Fine-Detail Processing” is that it is able to retain the high resolution of the lens image in the final picture, while reducing moire and false colors. We also reviewed the noise reduction algorithm. One of the results of the development of the E-5 is that users can now discover the previously untapped potential of the lenses they already own.

The Olympus E-5 is in Stock at (Click on store name):
Amazon US, BHphoto, Adorama and Amazon Deutschland

One more news item for Australian readers: I have been told that there will be a new E-5 cashback action soon…

Panasonic GH2 to be in Stock in Europe by early December (delay because of late tech adjustments!)

[shoplink 17664 ebay][/shoplink]

One of my best sources confirmed that Panasonic delayed the GH2 Europe introduction because of “late tech adjustments“. That’s why the GH2 will be in Stock 2-3 weeks later than expected (original release was planned by mid November, now early December). Those adjustments have to do with the European models only! I didn’t receive any further detail and I am still wondering what those adjustments could be…
I contacted Pixmania and Amazon and received an official answer from Pixmania. They confirmed that they will have the GH2 in Stock by early-mid December.

For our US readers:
Amazon, Adorama and BHphoto are expected to ship the first GH2 cameras next week. I contacted Amazon to ask why they removed the SIlver GH2 preorders but I got no answers.

GH2 preorders:
Adorama, BHphoto, Amazon UK, Amazon France.

Website Back online

Sorry guys!
We had some major issue with the server and we worked 6-7 hours to fix it. We even don’t know how we fixed it :)
Give me some time to take a Capuccino and than I will start to post the first news for today.

P.S.: My level of frustration is very high but I just received that nice [shoplink 15659]Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95[/shoplink] and that makes me a little bit happy now :)

Olympus announces the E-PL1s and a new Kit lens!

Surprise! Olympus announced the E-PL1s! It is a slightly tweaked version of the existing [shoplink 14832]E-PL1[/shoplink] (it now shoots at 6.400 ISO and it also comes in red). It uses the new BLS-5 battery instead of the BLS-1 (To meet the new safety standards for lithium-ion rechargeable Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law). But the most interesting news is the new version of the current [shoplink 14816]14-42mm kit lens[/shoplink]…the M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm II 1:3.5-5.6 kit lens! It has MSC (Movie and Stills Compatible) designation and it is smaller and lighter (112g= 25$ lighter) than the current version. The new kit should be released in Japan by December the 4th. The price of the lens only is 36,750 yen (US$440). There is no info about the possible release date in Europe and US/Canada. I was told the new lens will be available worldwide very soon. But there is no plan to release the E-PL1s in non-japanese countries.
