I was also told that the Panasonic 20mm lens will be in Stock in most US shops by the end of February!
P.S.: For europeans. There are no big deals on the Panasonic GF1. If you find one please send me an email. Anyway I noticed that Pixmania has the lowest price in most european countries.
UPDATE: I recieved following two mails:
1) “Hey I thought you might like this. I just preordered the 20mm lens through Panasonic direct which list the lens on back order. On the confirmation email they sent back they listed the estimated ship date of 3/10”
2) “I ordered a GF1 kit w/ 20mm lens two days ago (Feb 10th). Delivery estimate was March 3 – 10. So 3-4 weeks. Just got this email:
“Hello from Amazon.com.
We are writing about the order you placed on February 10 2010 (Order# xxxx). The item(s) listed below will actually ship sooner than we originally expected:
“Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 12.1MP Micro Four-Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera with LUMIX G 20mm f/1.7 Aspherical Lens”
Previous estimated arrival date: March 03 2010 – March 04 2010
New estimated arrival date: February 18 2010″
So it looks like they are shipping out much faster than the “usually ships in 2-4 weeks” estimate they have on the page.”
I thought it would be interesting to compare the worldwide Amazon DSLR sales rankings. Please keep in mind that in every country you have different deals. Amazon is also not very popular in Europe and Japan like it is in US. I will show you the TOP 5 DSLR + the 5 most sold Panasonic and Olympus cameras
If you compare the rankings you can notice that:
1) Only Amazon Japan has a Panasonic/Olympus which is in the TOP 5 (On first place the white GF1+20mm lens)
2) In Germany FourThirds cameras are very popular.
3) Olympus E-PL1 preorders are quite low.

US citizen are not so lucky with Panasonic stuff like europeans. After 5 months it is still difficoult to find the highly rewarded Panasonic 20mm lens in Stock with a the “normal” price ($399).
UPDATE_
Just received an email from a 43rumors reader: “I keep noticing you mention that Amazon US is out of stock of the GF1 w 20mm. While this remains true, in my experience they fill orders at the low price fairly fast.
I placed an order on the evening of Jan 12. The unit was supposedly backordered for 3-5 weeks. The product page at the $899 price tends to shift between 3 – 5 and 2 – 4 weeks. My GF1 arrived in TX on Jan 26. Very happy to have waited and saved the money.”
Interesting note: Amazon UK has a white and red E-PL1 available for preorder. This colors are not available in US. US shops do have the blue model instead. Do you knwo why it is so?
