World’s first test of the brand new Panasonic 30mm macro at Photoreview.

Bildschirmfoto 2015-03-19 um 08.25.19
The lens rating from Photoreview.

The brand new Panasonic Macro 30mm f/2.8 lens has been tested at Photoreview (Click here):

Our Imatest tests showed the review lens was capable of exceeding expectations for the sensors of both the cameras we used for our tests: the Panasonic DMC-GH4 and the Olympus OM-D E-M1. Slightly higher resolutions were achieved with the E-M1 so we have based our test reports on images from that camera.
There was no evidence of coloured fringing in any test shots. Vignetting (corner darkening) was very well controlled and barely visible at the widest aperture setting. Rectilinear distortion was also effectively negligible.
Panasonic’s Lumix G Macro 30mm f/2.8 ASPH. MEGA O.I.S. lens is a welcome addition to the specialised close-up lenses available for M4/3 cameras. Offering the shortest focal length of the trio, it is likely to be the most affordably priced if US prices are any guide.

New Panasonic lens preorders:
Panasonic 42.5mm f/1.7 POWER O.I.S. Lens at Amazon, BHphoto and Adorama.
Panasonic MACRO 30mm f/2.8 MEGA O.I.S. Lens at Amazon, BHphoto and Adorama.

New E-M5II review (CameraLabs, DPreview, Reviewed, Soundimagesplus, Admiringlight, IR)

Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II Video Test
from Pier-Yves Menkhoff on Vimeo.

We have plenty of new E-M5II reviews and tests and let’s start with the full review from our friend Gordon at CameraLabs:

It should be clear by now I’m very fond of the OMD EM5 Mark II. It improves on two bodies I already liked a lot, taking the best of both, improving some aspects and adding more besides. The compact weatherproof body looks and feels great, the viewfinder and screen allow easy and comfortable framing, the various modes, views and previews exploit electronic composition like no other, it shoots quickly and quietly, and the stabilization is eerily good. The icing on the cake is the 40MP mode – think of it as a bonus that only works under very specific conditions and advanced photographers will find it delivers a useful boost in resolution.

More tests:
Dpreview posted the full E-M5II review where the camera earned the Silver Award.
Reviewed also tested the camera.

(FT4) Olympus 7-14mm PRO lens should start shipping in June.

7-14mmPRO

Last week I reported that Olympus added the 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO lens on their Four Thirds Group Mathcing Simulator page (Click here). Two of our sources told us that Olympus plans to release the lens at around June. This means you can preorder it at that time while the lens will ship in late July-early August (differs from region to region). The lens is already listed at BHphoto (Click here).
