Via Facebook Olympus Russia did debunk ther very speculative rumor posted by Biz-journal.jp saying Olympus to stop their unprofitable camera business.

Friends, more recently, several Russian-speaking resources, citing foreign sources, came up with loud headlines that supposedly, Olympus is closing the photo business. For our part, we want to say that this information is not true. Currently, Olympus is undergoing a comprehensive transformation program to continue its development as a global medical company. The photo business plays an important role as a technology driver for all Olympus business lines, developing advanced digital and network technologies that are also used in our medical and industrial business. We will continue to improve the technology in photography, paying particular attention to our main advantages: compactness of the system, exceptional image stabilization capabilities and high-quality lenses.

Venus Optics will soon announce the Micro Four Thirds mount version of their existing Laowa 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D lens. Above you can see the new lens mounted on the BlackMagic.

The Olympus OM-D E-M1X is a fairly hefty camera but it is worth remembering that lenses also play a large role in the portability of a system. For example, inside our Peak Design 30L Everyday backpack, we were able to fit the new camera along with the 12-100mm f/4, 300mm f/4, 40-150mm f/2.8, 12-40mm f/2.8 and the E-M1 mark II with the battery grip attached. We’re happy to report that the Olympus OM-D E-M1X, with its updated continuous autofocus system, delivers similar results to its mirrorless pals, the Fujifilm X-T3 and Sony A7 III, when used for birds in flight. Out of the hundreds of images we took at our local red kite sanctuary, approximately 74% were keepers, or 91% if we include the ever-so–slightly soft images. We found that the best AF settings for this genre are 25 Group Target and C-AF Sensitivity +2. You can see a few sample images by swiping to the right! ?
