You can see now the next offer, which is much less convenient…

9 months ago |It should not do that. That is not right. If I wanted to find substantially higher priced copieo sf this lens I’ll go to ebay, which in my mind is not much more risky than what I in my mind I consider to be the formerly acceptable Willoughby’s.

9 months ago |How are you people going to use this lens? Shooting bums in the night from safe distance?
Justin
9 months ago |haha. I have asked myself that question on several occasions. I’d rather have an IS version of a zoom lens at f/2.8 covering 70-200.
150mm just doesn’t seem that useful. Not long enough and not wide enough for typical use. I guess you could argue the lens is THAT good so force yourself to find uses for it. I do that with my 45, but that lens can actually get head and shoulder shots indoors. 150mm equivalent would just get me eyes and forehead.

Back up a little. Many people don’t like it much anyway if you stick a lens in their face.

9 months ago |When working in front of a stage, the 150mm equivalent is very useful, as it allows close-ups of people further away on the stage, and allows you to move away a little bit from the stage front, which makes for a much nicer perspective where you aren’t just looking up into someone’s nose.
The f1.8 at iso 6400 is still going to be usevul to achieve high enough shutter speeds, as stages are often relatively dark, and performers tend to move around.

9 months ago |I find it the perfect lens for tighter portrait work. I generally really like this focal length. While you need some room, it works great. I just did headshots for employees in my company and used the 75 exclusively, and it worked wonderfully. The further distance allows for greater compression, which makes noses look smaller and is very flattering.
It’s also a great lens for theater work, and I’ll use it quite a bit this winter in that regard.
It’s not much longer than the ‘standard’ 135mm focal length, which is extremely popular on full frame and is right in the sweet spot for the ‘portrait’ length.
