US deal: Panasonic 45mm for sub $700 (+ more lens price drop)
The Panasonic 45mm lens is now in Stock for less than $700 at Amazon and BHphoto. That’s a much more affordable price than the almost $900 we had to pay for it months ago. You can read a review of the lens at Photozone.
And also the new Panasonic 100-300mm lens gets a new discount. It’s in Stock for less than $540 at Amazon (Click here). Combine those deals with the recent Panasonic 7-14mm price drop and you will notice that Panasonic is lowering the price of some of their best lenses. To bad the prices in Europe and Asia are still high. Look at the price trend of the 7-14mm lens in Germany:
Pretty boring

2 years ago |The macro is still around AUD$1,500 here in Australia, great considering our dollar has parity with the US dollar.. I can almost buy two online from bhphoto for the same price, and they wonder here why people here don’t support the local economy….

2 years ago |Yeah this lens is $1100 in Canada so I can sort of understand where you come from. But damn $1500 is so not worth it for this lens. I think between $650 and 700 is about right.

A lot has to do with Panasonic Australia they need to stop gouging its only hindering m43 here they could cut prices way more

2 years ago |I should say it is good to see the bhphoto price drop though as I am saving for this lens, though delaying in the hope Oly release a 50/2 macro (more multi purpose for me then)..
Olympus prices are sometimes OK here I did buy my 9-18mm after a bit of negotiation here.. BUT I have 5 Panasonic lenses and NOT ONE of them has been purchased within Australia (all shipped from Taiwan or US).. My camera (G2) also came from Taiwan and cost me less than half what I could find it for locally..
I think Panasonic is only hurting themselves in Australia, I see very few Panasonic u4/3 cameras in the hands of photographers here and many electronic retailers don’t stock them or at least don’t bother having them on shelves (due I am sure to the insane prices from Panasonic Australia).. Olympus is more widespread, due in part I am sure to decent prices on the EPL1 and lots of stores stocking them..

2 years ago |I don’t see any m43 cameras on the street here in the U.S. either. I’m surprised the prices are that high in Europe and down unda.

2 years ago |I have seen a few EPL1 on the street lately, with rebate it is around AUD$548 here including the kit lens, which is much cheaper than a low end DSLR…
