Panasonic reps talking: 42.5mm and 150mm not coming this year. GX2 coming soon.
It’s always dangerous to rely on informations released by company représentants. So pleas take that info with a grain of salt ok? I got two mails from 43rumors reader that had the chance to talk to some Panasonic rep:
1) Rumor one: I have high hopes that this news I am going to post is simply untrue. 43rumors reader and photographer Jimmy Patton (here on G+) told me that he “talked to a Panasonic rep today and asked about the 42.5mm and 150mm… Answer was “not this year“.
2) Rumor two: 43rumors readers Zetton was at the CP+ show and told me that “While talking with the Panasonic staff I have been told that Panasonic will release the next GX1 soon”
So, no new lens by Panasonic in 2013? DC.watch reported the lens should come within 2013 (and Panasonic roadmap shows 2013 as target year). Would be the first time ever a company doens’t announce a new lens for a full year! And please, don’t define the newly upgraded 14-42mm as a “new lens”!

P.S.: Zetyon posted some pics of the Cp+ show at Pepget768 and Flickr.

4 months ago |There is no sense to talk about 43/1.2 and 150/2.8 if it will be in 2014 (or later).
Oly – please make TC20 (and TC14) for micro43.
75/1.8 + TC20 = 150/3.5 – very close to 150/2.8 from Panas

4 months ago |Wonder if they’ll release it before I buy and old FD 300/2.8 or OM 350/2.8 or 250/2.0…

4 months ago |You might want to have a rethink about those OMs.. they cost more than $5000!
Maybe the 180/2.8 is more what your looking for? I have found that with mine, wide open performance is good, not great. The pana will have AF and be sharper no doubt.

4 months ago |I know what the OMs cost. I also know that they are almost impossible to find, especially the 250/2. But I also know that they are amazing lenses.

Finally we will see head to head EP5 v GX2.

4 months ago |If I attach an OIS lens to an Olympus body, is the lens OIS system used or does IBIS take control?
Dannecus
4 months ago |If you use a Panny OIS lens on an Olympus body you have to turn off one of the stabilisation systems, or they will conflict. You would normally turn off the in body and use the OIS in the lens.

Thanks.

4 months ago |Almost true. The only exception being that if you use an OIS lens with the OMD, it’s generally better to turn the lens OIS off and use the in-body anti shake. But with the rest of the Olympus PENs, the lens OIS is preferable. YMMV.

4 months ago |hahahaha! Not even this year! That is ridiculous!
We now know why they showed 2013 and beyond with only 2 lenses on that “roadmap”
But fear not! till 2015 there will be at least 2 more lenses, 2 more revisions of the 14-42mm

4 months ago |This is really close to the truth, but I suspect we will see a 25 1.4 re-make including weather sealing.

4 months ago |Next revisions will be the tele zooms. 2008: 45-200 -> 2011: 45-175 -> 2012: 45-150 -> 2014: 45-125 -> 2015: 45-100.

4 months ago |GX2 really have to come up something very very special that worth to upgrade for everyone .
A build in viewfinder , whether seal & IS body & a sensor that must above GH3 otherwise OM Pro will be a better choice .
I suspect GX2 only a minor improvement over the GX1 , nothing really impress & this explain why Pana keep it silent all the time .
fvanzela
4 months ago |They really have to do something revolutionary in the GX2, something like the L1 they had in the past, with the GH3 capabilities, and some kind of weather sealing, otherwise it will not make sense updating m4/3 bodies anymore.

4 months ago |Typical of Panasonic – announce something but don;t make it available until a year later, then rivals end up making something better anyway, great business tactics Panny!

4 months ago |big disappointed again i’m afraid .. i am about to buy my first mirrorless body, I really like the concept and great selection of the m43 system, but I can’t help my self from buying the nex-6 .. Panasonic and olympus should bring a new body with build in evf and the last IBIS and sensor generation…I really like the GH3 and the 12-35mm but it is too much like my good old canon 40D and 24-70L..I want to go smaller and lighter.
so please give us some good news
The M43 large selection of lenses is tempting but I can only shoot with one lens at the time

4 months ago |So you want a built-in EVF, with the current IBIS and sensor…
Have you heard of the OM-D E-M5? It’s quite popular…
JF
4 months ago |E-M5 + 12-35 f2.8 is a pretty small combo, really smaller than 40D + 24-70 f2.8 !
Here’s some pictures with E-M5 + 12-35 f2.8:

4 months ago |The NEX-6 body is a beautiful example of efficiency. Aesthetics aside, it carries all the primary functionality one could desire, all while housed in a compact, ergonomically friendly design. It’s when you get to the lenses is where the system’s size limitations break down. The power zoom kit is great for convenience, but any high-quality glass is invariably going to be larger than a similar m43 lens of the same specification. True, you are working with a larger sensor, but if compactness is of utmost priority, m43 will give you the smaller complete package while still maintaining more than enough image quality. I just wish Olympus or Panasonic could design a camera body as efficient as the NEX line.

4 months ago |I’ve got NEX 5N and NEX6 recently and send them both back to the seller! They feel more like point and shoot cameras than real stuff. I used them with Sony E-Mount 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 lens which is huge, slow and soft. Apart from that ALL Sony lenses wiggles around the NEX body, lense connection too loose, it causes focus and apperture problems esp when shooting video. It causes video recording stop on it own, esp when rotating zoom ring, also when lens wiggles it make clicking sound that passes into video. Sony NEX cameras are compete joke!
I bought Olympus OMD EM5 and by all means it is a way better camera from build quality to the IQ. The lens sits on the body like a rock, no wiggle, no clicks. Zuiko m 14-150 two times lighter and smaller than Sony 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 and two times sharper!
NEX6 phase detection is slower than Oly contast detection.
Tel me more about Sony NEX!

4 months ago |The Lumix G 14-42mm II is in fact a new lens. The kit zoom lens is very important for the market penetration, as it is the first lens most new users encounter. So the quality of this lens is important. Hence, I think this is good and important news.

4 months ago |At least Sigma has a unique sensor to compensate for their impotence. Really, any of you taking any pictures worthwhile with any Panasonic? Best thing they ever did for MFT was the 12-35- what else that isn’t easily trumped for the $$ by Olympus or Fuji? You wanna have fun with a DSLR? Buy a discounted MKII and go to eBay and get some old Leica R or Oly Legacy glass. Honestly, all Panasonic MFT are second rate, uneventful and mediocre at best. Go to Flickr and judge for yourself before wasting your money.
Mojokielbasa
4 months ago |You want balls-up for your MFT? Buy Voight. 17.5, 25 and soon 42.5. Learn to use these well and you won’t ever be disappointed with your MFT investment. Need moisture resistant and auto? Buy the PANA 12-35. Compact? The Sigma 19, the PANA 20, the Oly 17.5 in order of unique ability, is the best you’ll do in prime/normal/auto. Can’t wait for the Voight 42.5? Try the Zeiss Biogon 35/2 for clinical sharpness and great 3D.
New to MFT? Like the idea and the great lens selection? Wait for the new E-P3 replacement. Can’t wait? Buy an OMD.
I know it sounds harsh. But it’s tough love my brothers. I had the GAS. There is no cure, only wisdom earned.
